New Users should not be allowed to create a thread. This is Spam.

It's quite easy:

  • Dingoo Digital (http://www.dingoo888.cn/) are the original & genuine Dingoo company/manufacturer.
  • Dingoo Technology (http://dingoo.hk/) was formed from members who disbanded from the original Dingoo Digital company.
  • Some retailers are knowingly receiving an inferior product (aka HK Dingoos) for a cheaper price from the bootleg company, Dingoo Technology, and still selling them for the RRP thus increasing their profit margins (I personally know two retailers who are doing this).
  • Retailers will have you believe that Dingoo Technology is the 'real' company for the fact that they make more profit from selling a bootlegged product
  • The A330 is FAKE (in the sense that it is not an official product licensed from Dingoo Digital). Dingoo Technology has merely stolen the Dingoo A320 reputation and branding and created nothing more than the hacked internals of an A320 that runs on a hacked version of A320 firmware which does not utilise its 64MB RAM. They threw it in a different cover and added a crap wireless controller, that's it.

Where do you find this out? I see people saying this in a few threads, and I've asked a few times now where this information comes from and nobody has answered. If you have an A330 in hand, where in the native firmware does it report how much RAM is available?

Please tell me.

DDU is dealing directly with Dingoo Tech and I've never heard of any of his customers receive "fake" or "inferior" Dingoo A320s.

With that said I don't know who is in the right in all this. Of course in China questionable practices regarding copyrights and improper use of intellectual property etc seems to be more the rule than the exception.

I have heard of plenty of people with defective units from Dingoo Tech - just ask someone who has a Dingoo from Dingoo Tech to play a Neo Geo game. ;)

I'm not commenting on DDU as I have never dealt with them, I'm merely saying that I'm glad my Dingoo came from a supplier who buys from Dingoo Digital - Neo Geo/GBA and all firmware/apps work fine for me. My battery lasts an entire day and doesn't overheat when charged. I am able to download the latest firmware, tools and games from the Dingoo Digital website, which aren't on the Dingoo Tech website, funny that. And where is the official 1.2 firmware link? Dingoo Digital have links for version 1.22 and 1.3 firmware, Dingoo Tech have 1.03 available for download.

I could go on, but the truth isn't that shaded. I mean really, does the A330 look like a huge leap forward to you? Just wait until Dingoo Digital release the real sequel to the A320...

I made a simple memory test program that can be downloaded from the Dingoo SDK google-code download page: http://www.code.google.com/p/dingoo-sdk
Moglenstar ran the code on his A330 and obtained identical results to what I got on my A320.

I've got an A330 headed in my direction though so I'll look into it, it shouldn't be too hard to hack around this limit in the SDK.

@Frank

Well, DDU gets his stuff from DT, apparently. Many people have bought from him, and have had no problems. And apparently the Neo Geo problem isn't an HK or DT only thing. Some units from both DD/DT have this problem, or so I'm told.

I have an HK I got off a Chinese reseller on Ebay. I have had no problems with the battery or any such nonsense.

As for the website weirdness... don't even act as if any of that matters. BOTH sites are fucked up beyond all belief.

Very true about the websites.  The English version of dingoo.cn/dingoo888.cn doesn't even have the newest FW update, either.  It's latest is FW 1.1.  Also, the earliest I have seen FW 1.2 available was from DDU, and he says he got it from the ones who are at DT now.  So, who knows.  But, if what DD says is true, they should be releasing info about their new Dingoo within a few weeks.  Have to see if these next few weeks go by with silence or not.

Thank you! I thought maybe there was some hidden screen in the native OS that displayed the ram and was going a bit nuts trying to find it.  :D

Many thanks to all repliers!

The files from hk-fix.zip work on the A330.
I could convert missing (new) apps/sims with the related Python applet, so everything is now running.

Regards,
Achim

The link to Dingoobench does not work.

The sml_overclock.app r163 shows:
Core: 336 Mhz
Memory: 112 Mhz

No 400 Mhz as default or the app did not recognize the A330...

Regards,
Achim

No 64 MB memory, no 400 MHz CPU and hacked A320 HK firmware - told you they're fake.

if you bothered to read that, he(or she) used the overclocker app, which doesn't read the speed, it only sets it

learn to read, honestly

EDIT: i stand corrected :D

Not true, the overclocker reads the hardware registers to obtain the speed, just look at the openly available source for it.

As for the memory, images of the hardware confirm that there is 64MiB of ram in the A330, it's just that the native OS hasn't been modified to use it, should be easy to add support for that into the native SDK though.

Lol. How does that make it "fake". It's a functional A320 with better shoulders, screen, and RAM (whether they have utilized it yet or not). Pretty cool.

If the original Dingoo team is indeed with DT, making a quickly modded slightly better A320 might be just another way to distance and distinguish themselves from the strays, DD.

Either way, we are all basing it on this "he said she said" BS. Who cares who left whom. Time will tell who the better company is. Just wait awhile and see what both cook up next.
