JXD V3!!!
« on: June 23, 2010, 02:02:47 pm »
Hi everyone. I came from dingoo-digital forums. Anyway, I may decide to get the JXD V3, because it runs the exact systems I want it to, (SNES, MD/Gen, GBA), it has a bigger screen, a more furturistic style, etc. However, who knows what the future holds. I'll just wait and see!

I have the JXD 1000. The button mapping is just HORRIBLE and makes SNES and SMD games almost unplayable. I never found a firmware which fixes this problem.

This seems to be a problem for all JXD devices, also for the V3:

@joanilson41 : What is your experience with the buttons ?

SPMP8000 is the chipset inside the JXD V3, JXD 1000/2000, Letcool N350JP, and numerous other similar portable game systems. It's a pretty much identical system between all of the consoles, and generally apps from each console will work perfectly fine on any of the others.

So we refer to the consoles as a whole as "SPMP8000 Devices"

the last days here had no news about programming on spmp8000

Still waiting for my breakout board to arrive in the mail so I can get a serial connection on my Letcool :)

Wow. Someone needs to merge a collection of these consoles and create some Mega Emulator or something.

I got where you're goin. In reality, all I need is a PMP console that plays gba and snes games with all keys. I don't want to go to the tedious work of jailbreaking my iphone. Plus, I like phsical buttons, so the Gemei might actually be it. Which bring me to my next statement(no duh):
1: Do the Gemei X760+ and the Dingoo rung the same firmware and stuff?
2: If so, why isn't Linux/Dingux a feature for the Gemei?

Eyeballin the GP2X...

Eyeballin the GP2X...

1 - I believe the X760+ can run the native Dingoo apps, but there are problems with the number of buttons (as I mentioned)
2 - Booboo disappeared from the scene, he had a lot of hassle getting his X760+ and then he kind of just stopped working on it (as you'll see on the dingux.com blog)

The GP2X Wiz is a nice console, and it does gba/etc just fine, has a touch screen, full size SD, etc. Only downside you might find is that it's quite a bit more expensive than the Dingoo, X760+, Letcool, etc.

This might help you to decide for both, the Wiz and the Dingoo ;)

Just one more thing. Installing emus on the Wiz is easier. Linux is the original OS. And forget the Gemei, as omgmog said.

i don't know exactly what it means, but sounds good...

@yoshi41 my experience with buttons are very bad! GBA is ok for me, just need more compatible emulator.... SNES is frustrating, there's no X button and MD (Genesis) is only worth to Sonic games! Sonic runs perfectly, because none of sonic games needs C button, wich is configured at power button, and power button is configured to run the menu of quitting game and save/load state, so, it's like C is not configured...

so , i'm waiting for better emulators too.
the hardware of spmp8000 is very good, but there's no support to development, no information, there's nothing!

but if maleaxx ported doom, so it's possible to port another stuff

Yeah, it's really too bad. The JXD hardware is pretty good, but they are too stupid to map the buttons. I use my JXD 1000 only for Castle of Illusions (SMD) where the buttons are configurable and Columns (SMD).

I still hope for a firmware update to fix this problem :(

I would get one of the cheaper PSP shaped ones if I hadn't already owned a PSP.

Here is a slightly smaller version of the V3. It has a 3.6" display. Kinda like the clamshell design.

If you scroll down there are quite a few new designs. I like the look of the YDP-G65.
Man there's a new pmp on the market every day now it seems.

there's a new firmware available on JXD website in case you own (like me) a nice V3 or JXD1000 : better emulation and finally better button mapping (even if triggers are vol +/- on GBA...) Anyway, all that to say JXD is updating firmware, at least once a year !!!
