Black Screen Retromini-RS90
« on: May 30, 2020, 08:58:16 pm »
Hey, I am really hoping someone can assist me.  :'(

I recentlly bought the Retromini-RS90 (Samsung) and flashed it, everything was working fine... Until one day I noticed that when I turn it on, the screen powers on however it is blank. I have tried several combinations Select+A, Start+R, etc., none of them have worked. My 4 year old is the one that would play with it the majority times, so I am guessing he did something. Now whenever I plug it into a PC, it is not recognized as a bootable device and I cannot install OpenDingux again. I really want to fix it since I really enjoyed playing all the GBA games from when I was younger.

Mine did this, think I just took it apart and put it back together and it started working, been fine since. I take it you've tried removing the battery?

Does the LED light Red when you connect it into PC via USB cable ?

Have you tried another USB cable ?

It does, it lights up green or red depending on the state (charging or turned on) and I have tried with the original and a second cable I have. The light does not flicker so I doubt that it is a faulty connector. I did read through the last two updates on this board. One thing I did notice was that somebody ran into a similar problem, in which they tried to install an update directly on the Flasher instead of adding directly through Apps, which resulted in the same black screen. Would you think this happened with mine? (Please take into account that my 4-year old son plays with it so I am assuming he probably messed with the options to boot under Start+Right, Select+A,etc.)

Try to reflash. Unless it's physically damaged, you should always be able to reflash.

Pcercuei, I love what you did with Retromini RS-90, the games are so much smoother in comparison to the original OS. Now I have no idea how to reflash, I Googled it and I was not able to find a tutorial on how to reflash the Retromini and my PC does not even recognizes it as a bootable device, it only charges the device when I plug it in. I will really appreciate it if anybody can help me.
