Looking for tactical RPG games which run well on Dingoo
« on: April 01, 2011, 09:26:14 pm »
I'm a big fan of RPGs (especially jRPGs), but probably my favourite game type is tactical RPG (aka strategical RPG). I am wondering which tactical RPGs work well on Dingoo. The only ones I can really think of are Front Mission (which I already completed, but might as well replay it) and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (didn't play it much, but I might give it another chance). So any suggestions?

P.S. For some reason I have a thing for militaristic themes. Because of that I've been really enjoying Valkyria Chronicle 2 (I would have enjoyed it more if jpcsp emulator was more stable).

I believe you should try Shining Force I & II on Megadrive, and Fire Emblem on Snes and GBA.

For a militaristic theme, just try Advance Wars on GBA.

There is the original Final Fantasy Tactics for PSX, which some people said to work well on the PSX4ALL. There is Super Famicom Wars too, but i dont know if they have a translation. You can try playing Worms for snes, but forget RPG in this case.

Off the dingoo, we have Legend of Legaia...

I seriously can't believe you just asked about this.  Your timing is PERFECT, as I've been compiling a pretty thorough list of RPGs, of which strategy RPGs are among my favorites.

So, here's what I've found:

Shining Force 1 and 2 (Genesis)
Shining Force Gaiden: Sword of Hajya (Gamegear)
Shining Force Gaiden 2: The Evil God Awakes (Gamegear)
Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict (Gamegear, playable via translation patch)
NOTE - Pretty sure all the Gamegear SF's take place between 1 and 2
Shining Force CD (Sega CD, playable on picodrive without the CD audio bgm, also this is an enhanced remake of Sword of Hajya and Evil God Awakes)

Fire Emblem 1 and 2 (NES, playable via translation patches)
Fire Emblem: Mushou no Nazo (SNES, playable via translation patch and you must disable battle animations in the in-game config.  This is an enhanced remake of FE1 and an entirely new sequel)
Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War (SNES, playable via translation patch)
Fire Emblem Thracia 776 (SNES, playable via translation patch)
Fire Emblem Sword of Seals (GBA, playable via translation patch)
Fire Emblem Blazing Sword (GBA, finally one that was localized outside of Japan!)
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones (GBA)

Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen (SNES)
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (SNES, playable via translation patch)
Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis (GBA)
Densetsu no Ogre Battle (Neo Geo Pocket Color, playable only with online translation/walkthrough)

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA)
Front Mission (SNES, playable via translation patch)
Warsong/Langrisser 1 (Genesis)
Der Langrisser/Langrisser 2 (SNES, playable via translation patch)
Advance Wars (GBA)
Advance Wars 2 (GBA)
Onimusha Tactics (GBA)
FEDA (SNES, playable via translation patch)
Bahamut Lagoon (SNES, playable via translation patch)

Whew.... I think that's all I know of right now.  I just got into the Fire Emblem games myself.  There's a good chance one or more of them may become my favorite Strategy RPG.

Whoah great list.

I just remembered one tactical game for Neogeo Pocket. A mecha tactical RPG called Faselei! (apparently it had a UK release). It has minor compatibility issues with emulator on Dingux though.

Don't miss the PC Engine / Turbo Grafx...

Military Madness
Vasteel

My personal favorite is the Advance Wars series.
Emulator packs and fact sheets for Wiz, Caanoo, Dingoo and Pandora.

How well does the Amiga emulator work on Dingux? I just remembered the Battle Isle series and apparently there was a port of the first game to Amiga.

The Amiga emulator runs quite decent but a bit hit and miss what works. Haven't tried Battle Isle but there's a similar game series called Nectaris/Military Madness available on Turbografx and playstation. The PSX version runs well (sound off of course)

There are 2 interesting tactical RPGs in java which do run using midPath (though somewhat slow).

The first is UFO Afterlight. While not as playable as its PC counterpart its still decent.

The second is Silent Storm. It would be a really cool game if it was available in English, but unfortunately it's in Russian.
