Temper 1.24 Issue - UPDATED
« on: November 14, 2019, 08:45:07 pm »
hi all...

PC Enginer Emulator "Temper 1.24" boots to a black screen when selecting any .PCE rom file... I can access the menu fine, all the options can be changed, however no roms / PCE files will boot when selected.

Does this emulator require a BIOS file or specific setting somethings maybe?

The RG350 is now running CFW 1.6 but no different, same issue.

Anyone have and idea how to fix this so it will boot the PCE files ?

Thanks

I had the same problem when my games were zipped. Temper cannot handle zip files. I unzipped mine and they ran fine.

Thanks for the reply, all the titles are unzipped in .PCE format -  The PCE-CD Games are .ISO, .CUE and .MP3 audio tracks.

PCE CD Example:
Buster Bros.ISO
Buster Bros.CUE
Buster Bros 01.MP3 - Buster Bros 23 .MP3

PCE Example:
After Burner II.pce

Any ideas ?

Mine is working flawlessly, is your syscard3.pce in the correct place? .temper/syscards/syscard3.pce

All PCE files working now... Just trying to get the CD ISO games to run, have you got CD running ?

:) Thanks again for the info  8)

Is this Temper a direct port of the gcw zero version? Correct me if I am wrong but I don't remember a "1.24" version for the zero, so is this an updated version for the RG350?

How does it run? Is it 60fps fullspeed for both pc engine hucard and cd games?

No worries and yeah sure do. From what I saw above of your example you should be good to go.

Game Selection:

Considering you have to dump all games together in one directory it makes it difficult to choose the game you wish to play (if I'm wrong please correct me).

I'm sure there is a better way of doing this (please chime in if you know) A little trick to choose the .cue, select the first file you see when you open your cd directory, it will open to a black screen most like, if not find one that does. Then hit the Select button, go to > "Load new game"- Profit.

Like I said, if there is an easier/better way to do this please let me know.

I couldn't tell you the origins of the port, but, having a quick look through some of the games tg16 and tg16cd sets, compatibility is pretty good, I've played a number of the cards and cd's all at 60fps with default settings. 8)

I will try again, Some emulators dont show the file extension which can be a pain  :o

I found more problem in Temper config menu. If you use Left Analog to select option, it will jump quickly.
Another problem is "Select" button. Default setting used "Select" button to trigger config menu.
You can't map L2, R2 to any PCE controller button. So I think this emulator should be re-compiled for RG350.

Yes, in fact it is my GCW0 port with no RG-350 changes.
There's also still the 6-buttons issue caused by a miscompilation : i will need to add support for L2/R2 and possibly even L3/R3 to Temper.
