RG350 - Some Burning Questions
« on: October 02, 2019, 02:37:38 pm »
Hey all,

Not sure who has an RG350 but I wondered if anyone can answer a few things:

1) Does the PSX Emulator play eBoot files ?
2) Can we access / flash the internal SD Card WITHOUT opening the device ?
3) Can we get Scanlines ?

PS any plans for the DEVS to port the Comic Book Menu or the Python Menu Jack83

I would really like to see the animated preview images or even preview videos...

I hope one day we see preview videos running like we see on Coinops, Hyperspin / Pi, on the Raspberry Pi etc

Thanks All

:)

I'm still waiting on mine, but I may be able to answer a few questions.

2) Can we access / flash the internal SD Card WITHOUT opening the device ?

You can access the data via a USB cable. But if you want to reflash the firmware, you'll need to open it up.

3) Can we get Scanlines ?

Quality scanline effects are done in GPU code and are therefore on an emulator by emulator basis. Additionally, GPU support is a new option for this community, so it may take some time before the emulators are updated with features like this. Especially since the GPU performance and capabilities have yet to be discussed in detail.

Comic Book is just a theme. You should be able to install it without issue.

PyMenu is portable Python, so I don't see any reason why it can't run on the RG350. The current package may just work depending on whether it's shipping as interpreted code or pre-compiled code.

Hey thanks for replying I really appreciate it !!

When I said preview videos I wasn't really clear. What I  I mean for each title as browse through games like you seen in Hyperspin.... PyMenu already has the animated images which is really cool...

Thanks again - EDIT or even Nick Menu v17

About the scanlines, you don't need it since you can see the matrix of pixels on the screen, like in older screens, with a very good visual effect:

Just a precision about GMenu themes, the GMenu version is the one from the GCW Zero (well all the software is the GCW Zero one) so it's unfortunately not compatible with themes made for newer versions of GMenu, like the one from RetroFW. I tried FOntixel and Comic Book themes, they are all messed up ...

Yes! Pcsx4All supports pbp format, all my PSX romset is PBP and it works perfectly on the RG-350.
