A 15 second video? Sure, buddy, sure.
People have been "working" on getting HDMI output from this chipset since 2012.
I'll believe it when it's released.

Chinese engineers are still working on the HDMI output for the RG350 and RG350M. Here we see an RG350 outputting to a monitor with a HDMI cable. Currently the implementation is buggy and low resolution, but progress is being made. 4/13/20

I mean, it should be low resolution I would think... the device runs at 320x240 so ideally you would just output a 240p signal or do a 2x integer scale up to 480p.

I believe a lot of TV/monitors do not support 240p. You see all those Pandora boxes out there which only play retro games, the minimum is 480p or 720p TV output. The emulators should scale up the low res game graphics accordingly.

Hey thanks for releasing the HDMI update

Personally not something I would use as I like the "Handheld" formfactor as exactly that... However that said, there will be a lot of happy people out there indeed...

Where's the source code?

I hope the source code is released for all of the GCW Zero users whom have been waiting for it all these years.

Bravo to those who cracked this mamouth puzzle, Well Done !!

I find it strange that there should be many developers for the GCW0, and yet throughout the 4 or 5 years not a single one of them had managed to come out with a proper HDMI mod? Could it be a problem with the hardware itself?

Also, given the lockdown right now, we're not in a hurry to rush outside so gaming comfortably on the sofa with a big screen TV is just the perfect dose.

But please, watch your diet! :-)

It's been done back in 2015 or so. There was a video of it.

The GCW Zero has a different (slightly older) chip. I doubt that they are compatible.

I got HDMI to work a couple of days ago (completely unrelated to the RG350 effort btw) with the current OpenDingux dev kernel, see:
https://app.box.com/s/wmdxccovhhta71asv0mnkbarguvxtdl2
https://app.box.com/s/4w25to4akayfxgh7q44f7k87op3tw3ru

Running at 1280x720 there.

The problem with the GCW Zero is that even if we get HDMI to work we probably won't enable USB OTG, so you wouldn't be able to play with an external gamepad. Everyone who tested a OTG-enabled kernel got at some point a hardware failure of the OTG cable detection mechanism, which then requires a specially patched kernel for regular USB device mode to work. We don't want to risk frying lots of people's Zeroes.

Notice the keyword "proper" in my sentence? What I understand from that old video is that it is just a prove of concept, nothing more. And for some reason (hardware problem/limitation?) nothing came out of it.

Sorry if I've hurt your feeling, I'm not a developer, I'm just curious/wondering why is it so, that is all.

I don't have a GCW0 so I'm not complaining.
