RG350 OpenBOR?
« on: November 05, 2019, 04:40:59 pm »
After much research the latest version I managed to find version 4165 by David Knight, which is much better than the stock version.

That said, it still is an outdated version.
My question is will there be a newer port, or support, after all those Opendingux handhelds? I find it obscure to keep updating ports for Wii, PSP, but not fresh new devices like rg350.

I think the Open Dingux community is much smaller with a smaller user base, Dev's port / write and update emulators and apps in there free time, so I guess they cant do everything...  So that said, I we are lucky Dev's support these devices at all, the average consumer dont even know they exist ;)

4165 was the latest version I found back when I had a GCW0, I agree it's better than the stock RG350 firmware version 4077, which crashes when trying to play some of my .paks. I think at least the 4077 should be swapped out for 4165 in the stock cfw.

Here's the David Knight updates in 4165:

Original port by Shin-Nil
Update by David Knight

Changes by David Knight:
* SD card pakfile support (request by alexei_gp)
* Latest OpenBOR engine (Now using SDL2)
* Vastly improved pak file compatibility
* Support for high res pak files (automatically resized)
* Support for 16:9 screen format
* Support for full screen/aspect ratio options
* Menu control improvements (fast scroll, page up/down, jump between header to footer of lists)

David Knight did an amazing update back then. If only he, or someone, could give us another update....

Handhelds like rg350 are totally capable to handle OpenBOR and there are many hidden gems for fighting games fans.

I am just surprised how this whole project is "dead", especially with the huge increase of Opendingux handhelds nowdays.

Thanks for the link, but I have already downloaded them!!!  :P :P :P

Unfortunately some of my favourites (ex. Legend of the double dragon, battle arena toshiden origins) can only be played on PC or android, but not on 4165 version we have available.
Bummer  :'(

I am having trouble launching this version of OpenBOR.  It just stuck at "launching OpenBOR" with process pegging out the CPU.

Any idea why ? Is it due to size / format of the files used ? Like Audio files, or image formats / sprites etc?? I have no idea I am just guessing...

Maybe look at a game pak that works OK and see file formats, sizes, bit rates etc... Then maybe try converting them to match the working version ?

4165 is working much better for me but I am unable to get the left analog to work.

I redefine the keys in options, it looks to be saved but when I go in game the keys are the same as the default options, can anyone help with this?

Hi, after some research i came to this thread. I have a RG350M using the latest OpenDingux Beta FW (3rd October 2021 release) and I'm using the last (?) Open Bor release, R4165.

As all you know, that version is outdated and crashed some games.

Please tell me there is a newer version of it. I want to play Final Fight LNS ULTIMATE so bad and it doesn't work. After I start it, it kicks you to main menu.
