Multiplayer using type-c
« on: October 19, 2019, 11:43:54 pm »
Hello,
Since the RG-350 use type-c (that it's more convenient than micro USB), do we could use it for playing multiplayer over wired USB or Wifi (using WiFi dongle)?
If yes, wich emulators will be supported?

The fact that it uses USB-C as a connector tells you very little (it's likely to be using USB 2.0 internally anyways). The important part is that when you connect your handheld to your computer it should default to Ethernet over USB. Meaning you can already play games over a network, assuming you stay connected via USB. Some existing ports are compatible with multiplayer via internet, but most emulators will not be supported. Synchronization of input will be too taxing on a device like this. Wifi requires a networking GUI (like the one from the GCW Zero) and an appropriate wireless driver to be included in the kernel. Therefore there is no guarantee wireless chipsets will be supported by the current firmware.

There you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnca6Iwmmlo

If HDMI out is ever supported, this means 2 players on the TV screen !  ;D

Assuming the RG-350 will receive the same updated drivers as the GCW Zero, HDMI out will depend on a DRM/KMS driver being written for the GCW Zero. At first I assumed that RG-350 would be relying on Neo Geo X HDMI code. But apparently that hasn't happened.

potentially you could play with maybe 4-5 players, I guess.
Add a working HDMI signal and you're golden.

OK, I am a little confused ? Is that the player 1 controller in the left USB-C port?.. Where is the player 2 controller connected ?

Maybe I have over looked something in the video ?

OK its a USB hub, I get it now

Player 1 uses handheld controls. Player 2 uses USB gamepad.

So HDMI isn't working yet?
