[Skin Release] Material Design for Gmenu2x
« on: January 03, 2020, 01:57:03 am »
My first project here. Hope you enjoy it! :)

Material Design skin is based on google flat style. My objective is  bring a simple "clean" design to Gmenu2x.

*Update* 1.2
*Added a patch to change icons for emulators that uses a generic name: "Icon.png"
*Added icons to Apple 2, Bbm micro and Laser active emulators

*Update* 1.1
*Dedicated icons for each system (yes, yes, yes!)
*Changed font: Roboto -> Regular (from default skin)
*Added an icon for "favorites" Section
Preview:

Dedicated Icons: :)

Applying the icons patch:

Warning: this proceed will change folder and other settings of this emulators to default values.

Step (1)

Copy the all contents in folder "emulators" to internal folder: media/home/.gmenu2x/sections/emulators
(overwrite if necessary)
What it does?
Now the setup will claim for a specif icon on default skin or even in a custon skin.

Step (2)
Copy the all contents in folder "default icons" to internal folder: media/home/.gmenu2x/skins/Default/icons
What it does?
Now when applied the settings (of previous step) the system gonna find a specif default icon avoiding the use of
a generic icon.

Now All icons always gonna change when you setup a new skin. =)

To install just unzip the folder "Material" in: "media/home/.gmenu2x/skins"
Download version 1.2: https://gofile.io/?c=jdhFLI ("patch icons" folder is inside material skin folder 8))
Download version 1.1: https://gofile.io/?c=9e2RrZ
Download version 1.0: https://gofile.io/?c=KEL7JC

Looks great! However dedicated icons for each system/emulator (yes, that's a lot of work) would make this skin perfect!! Thank you for your work, I'll give it a try.

Just tried it out and it looks amazing! Also really digging the included wallpapers. The icons are very well put together, however I do like the larger font of the Default skin a tad better... Keep up the good work :-)

I like it very much. Only changed font for a sharped one, but I prefer clean themes.
Thank you.

Hi,
really love your skin my friend. I made a quick tutorial video to show how to install this beautiful skin and add the emulator icons. Thanks again, for sharing it with the community!

I absolutely love this.
This genuinely has to be the best theme i have ever seen for gmenu2x.

one tiny criticism tho... why go with that weird US SNES variant for the SNES emulator icon?
It looks really weird. Why not go with the original SNES design that was released internationally.
Why go with a regional variant?

@akaVanguard

I'm Really happy you liked too 🙏

There's no special reason to choose the US version. When i was looking for icons, i just choose the most familiar to me. Here in south america we had this version (So, in my mind was the natural way to do) :-\ .
In the next update I will try to share a pack of alternative icons, I was thinking about the users in Asia who would rather the famicom icon instead the square US Nes too.

Thanks by your feedback. ☺

or maybe let users chose?
I bet if you pick the eu/jap SNES a lot of americans will comment here ; PP

Everyone prefers their own variant, i think  ;D
