X20 "Doubles" review
« on: November 18, 2021, 01:16:59 am »

Saw this thing for $21 shipped on Amazon and had to check it out.    Surprisingly decent little handheld!    The buttons ( except for L/R) feel great and are responsive. Inside is an ATJ2279b, which runs at 450-600 mhz apparenty.

The super cool features are HDMI out, and physical/wireless controller inputs for 2 player. It has a nice big 5.1 TFT.

It runs GBA, Genesis,NES, GB/GBC, NEOGEO, and CPS1 well.  It runs SNES and PSX poorly, parappa the rapper runs almost PERFECT though.    The battery is junk at 1500 mah, I've ordered a 2300 mah to replace it.

If anyone else has one, comment in thread, I would love to compare/contrast versions f emulators, and hopefully move toward some sort of custom firmware.    I feel the ATJ2279b is fairly close in performance to the JZ4760,and those are everywhere.

I'd also love to hear from anyone with a X19 plus, like to hear how well one of those work out.

I'm going to update this thread with more information as I test & discover things. The x20 also plays CPS2 fairly well,

The PSX games I have tested that run at full/close speed.

 Alundra

 BreathofFire 4

ChronoTrigger

Final Fantasy Tactics

Grand Theft Auto

Legend of Mana

Mickey's Wild Adventure

PaRappa the rapper

Puchi Carat

Resident Evil2

Resident Evil3

Strider 2

I will keep updating this list with decent-running PSX games, and any other platforms I test out.

COOL NEW INFO!!!

Holding volume up while booting places the unit into ADFU mode, this is how we can flash software,I need to research and learn if we can capture images as well.

I tried, X16 firmware can not upgrade (overwrite) to X20.
