The smach people got their money and now they are awful quiet.

I'm beginning to doubt them now. I think this might be a scam... I'm so depressed :(

I have posted several questions here and on Facebook. Waiting for a response be for I bid. I want to know if the Zpads will come with any of the perks or if the indiegogo has a deadline. Nothing. If they are US based maybe they are on Thanksgiving break.

Hello!  I'm a backer, so I can answer some of these since they were addressed in some of the kickstarter updates:
-The ZPads are being included with the Super Early Bird Pro, but will ship at a later date as they're still perfecting them.  Estimate is currently October, when the Z is supposed to be officially released.
-Indiegogo is an OnDemand, so it technically doesn't have a deadline.  Not sure how long they plan to keep it open, but my guess is it'll be up until they unveil their store to current backers.  If this guess is accurate, it'll be sometime around march when they prepare to ship to Kickstarter backers.

When I get any more updates, I'll let you know!

Question: How come, after getting their half a million US dollars... the SMACH Team are being so quiet now?

Hi everyone

Just registered to tell you this because i found this thread interesting. Last month in Spain there was a videogames expo where the smach Z team had a stand and they were giving people the chance to try the console out and i was able to play some left for dead at solid 30 fps, 1080p in Ultra resolution

They told me that you'll be able to upgrade your console with some kind of modules with new graphics card and stuff, and also that there are two versions, 4GB RAM one and 8GB RAM one, with a SD Card slot (thing that made me doubt about the games performance)

Also they told me that they're planning to release a way more slim version that the one they're showing in the images

Slimmer? The Smach Z was already just a fairy tale, now they're trying to turn it into a myth.

Fairy tale?  Why do you think that? They have a prototype and are doing all the right things.  You still don't think it's really happening?

Don't understand why everyone is being so negative. They cancelled the original kickstarter as they weren't ready. Have come back got the funding and will now be planning it. I'm a backer and do understand the risks but I haven't seen anything to make me think they are just after my money.

I know I've said this already, but in light of all the negativity I want to say that I have faith that the finished Smach Z will be good.  Most concerns are about heat/throttling, or battery life.  Valid concerns, indeed.  Smach Team has a lot of industry help (I believe AMD said they'd be assisting wherever they can) and they have some good, experienced designers.  They have said that active cooling will be used if they've overestimated the new heat sink.  If they use the right high quality batteries, they should be able to deliver the battery life promised - my 4 year old Origin Eon11-s uses much higher drain components and it still delivers 4-5 hours of gaming with a 5400mah battery.

The Smach Z will either do well, or the company will fail.  They can't afford to not deliver!

I am truly looking forward to seeing it develop!

I'm debating getting the base pro model or going all out on the doubled one.  I don't know how much the modules will be,  or what a pain to send in and upgrade.

Last year, I backed Shenmue 3.  Unless the minimum requirements are crazy, I should be able to play the whole trilogy on my Smach.

Next year is gonna be a good year.

They have an Atom tablet in a custom shell.
They don't have their final specification working in the correct environment i.e. in a portable yet nor does it seem like they've done much testing to see if it's even possible. ALL game tests that they've done so far with their "final specification" is done on an external test bench running under an ideal environment.
There is no realistic prototype as of yet.

Though, at the very least they managed to fully contain their not-prototype in a similar-to-final shell with working game controls, unlike them PGS fellows.
I do believe that Smach will eventually push out a real product that people can actually buy, just not what they're attempting to advertise or at least not quite as amazing as they're touting it to be.

this chipset would be pretty decent.
dual excavator cores, 3 compute units and 6W TDP
the a6-9200

compared to a top spec z8700 machine with similar tdp.

I wonder if any of the future Zen chips would allow the same power as the Merlin Falcon at a lower TDP.  Would be pretty sweet!

Money has been collected on Kickstarter.  Soon the developers forum will open and we can follow its progress...
