It's a brand new ~$100, reasonably large tabletop device, seemingly running full, locked-down Android on a modern ARM processor. This puts it somewhat outside the norm for a forum that as of 2019, generally focuses on ~$25-50 pocketable MIPS32 devices.

(Note that the RS-07 Arcade Mini has the same JZ4760 processor that is in the RS-97/LDK/RG-300 etc, hence it's inclusion alongside the traditional 'pocketable' devices here)

OK, that's clear now and makes sense. Indeed I stumbled upon this forum because I was looking for information about the RS-07.

If you want to see  L I B R E   S O F T W A R E  from people here, IMO the best thing you can do as a first step is to perform a detailed teardown of the device when you recieve it. Use https://steward-fu.github.io/website/handheld/rs07/teardown.htm for a reference for what your pics should look like, and post your pics in a new thread under an explicit public domain license.

I've yet to see any actual teardown pics, or even the device's real name (manufacturer PN) here on the english-speaking FOSS-y side of the web. Some of us aren't willing to trudge through the discord/youtube morass. Bring us well-lit photos and good info and nice things MIGHT happen.

That's fine. I'm willing to contribute if someone is interested on this device.

I recently ordered one of these after lots of research and it seems like there are at least two different chipsets from various chinese sellers in both 4 and 7 in versions. One has DDR2 128MB ram, dual core cpu and says max of 32GB SD max. The other is the same as OP with DDR3 256 ram, quadcore cpu, and 64GB SD max. I would be careful because you can't go by battery life or the model G1000 either because I've seen both variations under G1000. Also it seems like everyone who made a video about this thing has the weaker one. I would hope the better specced one at least runs N64 better.

I will post updates when I get mine, it shipped from a US location and should take too long.

Yes, I noticed the different versions. The first I saw on my local amazon was the one with lower specs, sold at 127? !.
The one I ordered should have DDR3 256 ram, quadcore cpu, and 64GB SD, and I spent 58?. We'll see as soon as I receive it.

Here's some info from XXCoder on IRC, dunno who his source was:

Quote
AIWO G1000 REAL SPECS:
- Rockchip Quad-Core 1.2GHz Cortex-7 RK3128 (Hardware ID says RK312A, but might be spoofed)
- 128MB eMMC Storage
- 256MB DDR3 RAM
- 2 USB 2.0 ports (Top port is for firmware tools)
- Micro USB for charging ONLY
- Stereo headphone jack.
- 720p HDMI out (maybe possible with 1080p with custom firmware)
- Micro SD Card up to 512GB possibly more. (8GB included with Chinese ROMS)
- Serial connection on the board (for unbricking)
- Joystick controls simulates keyboard presses.

still waiting for a real teardown, this was the closest I've found so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MO8C7F5oKg

Nice teardown! Shame about the battery being non replaceable from the outside like the RS-07.

Anybody got a measurement of the case depth in the front, near the stick?

I'm interested to see what the internal clearance would be if you removed the stick and buttons PCBs.

I just picked one of these up too, having trouble getting it to see PSX roms..  Everything runs pretty well, surprised at how loud the sound is.  Has there been any traction for going to a CFW on this, I see the French discord thread that appears to be talking about a step towards getting it open as a native Android device for more functionality.

  Thanks

Do you mean this one: https://discordapp.com/channels/529983248114122762/597717494802677761 ?

It doesn't work, it just say: NO TEXT CHANNELS

I'm new to discord, so probably my fault.

While it looks good and better than its little brother (Retro Arcade Mini) I am reluctant to get one...

I bought a Retro Arcade Mini / RS-07.. I had high hopes for it so upgraded the battery, hoped a new Arcade stick and buttons would be released for it, but it never happend...

I think only gameblabla got behind it really... Not much in the way of releases which was a shame
