LCL GameBoys
« on: March 23, 2019, 08:35:51 am »
Hello folks,

yesterday I became a new Handheld: The LCL GameBoy A+.
And I'm love it!

A full Raspberry Pi 3 A+ inside a old GameBoy case with 6 Front-Buttons, Analog-Stick and 2 Back-Buttons and a very good IPS Display. Overall a good build quality. Only the very bright battery indicator-LEDs are a little bit annoying.
On it runs a modified Version of RetroPie... but I unfortunately can't install a fresh Install of RetroPie, Lakka or batocera on it... but with batocera I can hear the menu-music/sounds. But I think thats a problem with the A+ in general?

I know there are versions with a Raspberry Pi 3 B and B+ too.

Somebody else has a LCL GameBoy and knows how to become Lakka or batocera linux running on this device?

While this looks very good indeed, the price seems a little off, IMO.
If I'm not mistaken, it's priced higher than a GPD XD+. I'll watch some reviews tonight to see what it has to offer of that value.
Thanks for putting it under my radar!

Yeah, it's pricy... I paid 170 ?.

But it is handmade and I love this old Game Boy formfactor <3
Also the high modifiable RetroPi-OS. And the Original Gameboy-D-Pad is a dream.

I tested it with the psx emulator running a demo: more than 5 Hours playtime without charging#
And no, no fan. The cpu has max. 60 celsius on full throttle.

The reason other OS's don't work (But you can hear sound)  is because you need the Driver for the LCD Display, if you look at most LCD Displays that plug into the GPO port you will see that it comes with a driver cd or version of Linux with Driver pre-Installed.
Lots of Handhelds but my favourite is still my GCW Zero and also RG-350, But the RG-300 is 2nd Best.

Hi

Recently I got my LCL Pi Boy and I like to upgrade the micro SD card. Do you know where I can get the latest firmware of LCL Pi Boy? Maybe tutorial guide?  Thanks ;D
