GP2x Wiz clone (NES-on-a-chip in a wiz shell?)
« on: August 23, 2019, 11:57:37 am »
I just found this: https://www.gearbest.com/handheld-games/pp_009920487097.html?wid=1527929

It seems like a NES-on-a-chip in a wiz shell... Does anyone has one of these or knows more?

Ordered one as I really liked the shell of the GP2X Wiz :-)

I wonder if the plastic and or build quality is the same quality as Wiz?

Whahaha. Yes, I am afraid so.. Sadly it still hasn't arrived yet. When it does I'll make some comparison pictures with my GP2X Wiz

Nice. The vid from Wicked really gives me the impression this is indeed a NES-on-a-chip system in a Wiz shell. Thanks for the links  ;D

The 'thing' arrived and I wanted to give you all an update (and some good chuckles). Bottomline: this thing is a horrible abomination of a GP2x Wiz. It's roughly 50% larger than the Wiz and made from thin plastic, weighing nothing and a bit creaky and clicky. Although the buttons are responsive and the screen is not to horrible, its true horror is in the cartridges and games: 8bit nonsens tied together by a unstable, nonfunctional game adapter. Yes, it does play like a 'LauweLoempia'  ;) Maybe it can be re-purposed with a RPi.. but for now I gave it to the kids to trow around and demolish  :P
For jiggles I included some pic's below comparing it to my GP2x Wiz:

Yep. And I even forgot to make a picture of the PCB of the cartridge: it is a 5mm wide PCB with shorts 2 leads of the cartridge connector! So there is absolutely no content on those things!! ROFL

However, seeing the horrible build quality I was surprised how 'kind of ok' the buttons feel...

Ahahahaha, thanks for the lols. I can't believe it's around 50% larger in form size than Wiz, yet it's screen is smaller :D
