2)Remove all partitions of SD card and format it with FAT32 etc. (I used Windows Disk Management)
3)Download win32diskimager and install it. https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/<>
4)Execute win32diskimager, select SD driver, load the .IMG file and press "Write" button to proceed.

How to Duel Boot Bittboy from stock firmware to CFW

1) pop out sd card power on wait 2 seconds and then insert card it will boot stock rom.
2)To boot CFW insert sd card and just power on it will boot cfw,

How to tell between V1 & V2 Bittboy?

Well you will probably know by now there are 2 revisions of the bittboy V1 & V2 the only difference being is V2 is more user friendly installing the CFW. The way to tell externally is if you press the start & select buttons if they are soft its V1 if they have a clicky feel to them then its V2. If you want to dig a little deeper and make sure remove the 6 screws and on the top right where the sd card is situated you will see the words V2.0 or on v1.0 there is no marking on the board.

The difference between V1 & V2 the new version of Bittboy

1. Changed the screen
2. Changed the button color for (Asian markets only)
3. Changed the button scan code sequence
4. Changed 4bit. Can directly install cfw
5. Can dual boot system.

Internal Improvements

1.CPU is now consistent
2. The battery is consistent
3. No lr

@gameblabla I was looking at the tools you put up for porting to this. I assume this requires a Linux environment? I would love to port a few things over to this, though I admit that I am not much good at programming. If a Linux setup is all I need, I can certainly set up a spare laptop at my shop. I assume things like ReGBA, PocketSNES, and Cave Story could be ported?

I have not tested V3 yet but has the problem of plugging in ear-phones but still have sound coming from the internal speaker fixed in this version.

Also on stock firmware i only get sound from one ear (left) when plugging in ear-phones also happens on v2 cfw, is this normal for this device or has mine got a ear-phone socket problem (ear-phones work fine on other devices)?

Yeah just got around to testing V3 and Ear-phones problem is fixed, but for some reason cannonball does not work now and oswan emulator is missing?

Update: Fixed Cannonball by changing overclock setting from 600 to 702, it now runs and plays.

Fixed missing oswan emulator by mounting a v2 img and just copied oswan folder over to the v3 sd-card then added a link in gmenu2x.

I absolute cannot get this new firmware to work.

I can confirm I have the v2 "new" Bittboy. I have used multiple SD cards, multiple programs to wipe/format said cards and multiple programs to write the image onto the card.

All I get is a black screen.

None of the tutorial videos are accurate, I do not get the same folder structure they show.

Am I doing something wrong here? I've already tried the latest firmware listed (V3.1_Beta_20190314), still nothing.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Also make sure you wipe your card like this first

How to wipe your sd card completely all partitions ready for bittboy firmware flashing.

Start (diskpart) from windows start menu by typing it in start search bar menu
Then type the below commands in the terminal window.

list disk (this will list all your drives on your computer)
select disk  (what ever number is your sd card please type it after select disk be careful here)
clean (When you type clean it will clear all partitions)
create partition primary (This command will create a new partition)
exit (type exit to exit terminal)

Then use windows or whatever program you use to format the card to fat32 happy days

Totally forgot about Diskpart. Unfortunately I still have a black screen.

I'm starting to doubt I have a V2 new Bittboy. Yes I do have the clicky start/select buttons but I may need to take this guy apart and confirm.

Ok, just took it apart and can confirm it says MIYOO_V2.0. I'll keep trying.

Pretty sure I have a dud Bittboy here.

I have a new V2 Bittboy that absolutely refuses to work with the new firmware. I have followed directions and videos to a 'T'. All I get is a black screen on my Bittboy and I have confirmed that I have v2; start/select buttons are 'clicky' and it says MIYOO_V2.0 under the cover by the SD slot.

I have tried multiple different SD cards, different ways of formatting/deleting partitions on said drives and multiple different programs to write the image to the SD card, all result in the same black screen. I have also formatted on multiple computers using multiple different card readers. This process has been performed on Windows 10, Windows 7, Linux (Lubuntu) and MacOS. I have spent literally more than 8 hours trying to get this working. I only purchased the Bittboy because of the great new firmware.

Have you guys seen this issue with any of the V2 Bittboys? What do I do now? The Bittboy itself functions just fine with the stock firmware and I have been enjoying it that way but would love to unlock its true potential with the firmware. Anyone have any experience with their support?

My V2 Bittboy will only boot CFW. If i try to boot with an sd card with relevant roms on the root it will not boot ( black screen). Also it will not dual boot. When i ordered mine i paid for one without the sd card but it came with an sd card and cfw on the card, this all works and the updated cfw works also. This is not an issue for me as i intend to use cfw anyway!

Quake crashes for me once i enter the water with the bio suite.  ???

After formatting the micro sd card and installing the new software everything works after inserting card into the console (I played quake1). Unfortunately, I can't upload roms to the console, because my win7 detects only one partition called "boot" with a capacity of 256mb. I used a program called Mini Tool Partition and noticed the presence of a folder called "main". Unfortunately, I was unable to set it as visible to the windows 7 explorer. Someone help?

Try giving that drive main another letter in the partition tool then expand the fat32 partition main.

After open micro sd card in Mini tool partition only "boot" has letter. I can give letter to "main" but after saving changes letter in main disappears. I can explore "main" in Mini Tool Partition but I can't change anything inside.

I've never checked to see if my BittBoy is compatible with the latest CFW (v3.2 Beta) but I prepared some cards because two new BittBoy consoles are coming my way in the next couple of weeks.
After preparing those said ones, I decided to pop one in my older BittBoy just to see that the CFW boots great.
I began playing with it. Unfortunately, the only roms I could transfer were the old ones, from the old microSD (GB, GBC and NES).
Now here is the problem: the NES and GB roms play as good as expected, but I am no longer able to save. I've saved once in the GB emulator but that's about it. Now it seems like this process is corrupted for both GB and NES. With the NES emulator I basically receive a "can not save" type of message.
If it is of any importance, I used the MiniTool Partition Wizard to reclaim the card's space and I dragged the space bar until the very end, not leaving 1 byte unclaimed.
Is this a reason for saving failure?
Have I flashed the wrong CFW?

Thank you!

LE: Nevermind! I did it again (the flashing process minus the partitioning) and now it works.  Thanks for the CFW. Great work!

Seems like the SNES emulator is a proof of concept rather than a working emulator. You can not set keys and the triggers can never be used. It baffles me that, from the tens of videos showcasing the CFW, nobody seemed to think this is a very important information.

In my opinion Bittboy is only good for GameBoy(partially Advance because bad performance/compability)/GameGear/SMS/Mega Drive.
There are not much buttons and a combo ist not very good during gameplay.

And it is a great CFW right now. I bought two more devices, for a total of three, only because of your and others work.

I'll keep an eye on the changelogs.

If I may... I would like to suggest another thing, beside the obvious SNES key reconfiguration: the possibility to opt for a permanent battery status in the corner of the screen or a warning if it gets low (if possible and ain't too much of a trouble, of course).

Thank you!

I forgot about GameGear. Thanks for reminding me!
GBA is great for puzzle and turn based strategies games. I'm not going to complain at all. By the time I finish the games this device is able to play decently, a device the same size would be much more capable. My OCD is fine with not being able to play 10.000 games but only 5.000 :) right now.

Ok tested V3.3 CFW, Problems so far:

ROTT audio is really naffed up.
HHexen does not full screen, black boarder at the bottom.
KOF is running a tad slow.
GBA Left and Right triggers (B and Top Turbo Button on Bittboy) are the wrong way around and no way to configer in emulator as the only option is back?, this problem has happened since v1.
Wolf3D will not work with full game files, just drops back to gmenu.
Quake does not work with full game paks, again drops back to gmenu.
Gambatte does not save settings.

And i'm wishing for Atari Lynx (Handy) Emulator and Neo Geo Pocket (Race) Emulator to be added to this firmware.

Hope that helps beta test for you all.

Thanks for all the work, guys! Do you think it's possible to add a C=64 and a ZX Spectrum emulator too? I guess with the limited input options the virtual keyboards will be a challenge, mostly for the ZX Speccy, but this would make the "whole '80-90ies in your pocket" feeling complete.

@fakk3, if memory serves me correctly, you probably don't need to expand the main partition immediately. You get about 2 gigabytes of free space on that partition, if you leave it unexpanded. This is plenty of space for hundreds or possibly even thousands of games.

The main partition file system type is fat32, so it's surprising that you can't see it in Windows 7. If you can see the folder under Windows 7, you should be able to write to it.

Alternatively, if you know someone who has access to an Ubuntu machine, the 3 mounts should automatically show up when you insert the sd card into the sd card slot.

Good luck!

@Jutleys, great job so far!

I like the mame emulator, but I noticed that a number of the MAME portrait orientation games have the bottom cut off. These include Pacman, Ms. pacman. Also, Loderunner is missing a bit of the bottom, even though it's a landscape oriented game.

Interestingly, if I choose the screen rotate option for the Pacman/Ms. Pacman games, the game displays and plays fine, but the screen is rotated clockwise by 90 degrees, so it's a bit awkward to play.

Do you know how to work around or resolve this issue?

The SMS emulator (Dingux SMS_SDL) creates unneeded .bmp screenshots when pressing certain buttons. I ended up with eight of those after playing Alladin for haf an hour or so. Also, another combination, during gameplay, brings up the emulator's menu, without pressing the R button.

Not sure what your trying to say here but i don't use discord and also don't use windows.

So GParted to format/check/resize and Etcher to write image file, never lets me down (Format to fat32, Flash Image, resize main, check sd-card).

I can also mount image file as i'm running Linux, which in the case of the NES Emulator is what i did, Mounted a v3.2 image then copy NES Emulator files to v3.4 sd-card and now NES works and save settings.

The CFW, even if in beta state, is already quite good.

I've noticed that the sleep function (latest 3.4 version from march 28th) is somehow broken. When you press R to put the device to sleep, if you try to wake it up after about 5 to 10m it will not wake.

Also, can we hope for ports of ReGBA and PocketSnes?

There should be a new bittboy releaased at the end of this month that fixes the ghost keys since its a hardware issue it cannot be fixes via software.

Interestingly this one works without any problems whereas i just couldn?t install 3.4 at all.
How do i change palettes in the gameboy emulation though, as the respective folder seems to be empty?

The screen tearing is a hardware issue, not a software one. There's so much we can do about it.

Then,I think there must be someting secret about Miyoo NES emulator in stock FW.  Because the scrolling of the image is very smooth like using v-sync.

Good morning,
I just got mine... v2 and updated with the latest firmware. I would like know if there is any porting for the SCUMMVM and where can I download the latest emulators/apps for it.

About the NeoGeo Emulator instead, which one are the compatible sets?

Cheers!
