AtGames Sega "Firecord" handheld clone with HDMI
« on: May 10, 2019, 08:26:48 pm »
Grabbed the latest incarnation of the AtGames Sega "Firecord" handheld clone (was just $10, has HDMI, and plays GB/GBC/GBA/SNES quite nicely, even some PSX games run ok).

But I would really like to delete some of the less than desirable ROMs from the internal storage. Any suggestions? Hoping for some trick like with the RS-90, where you could hold start while powering up when connected to a computer, and the internal storage would mount like an USB drive.

I know it's nearly three months ago but where did you get this for $10?

Ebay. Though the price seems to fluctuate wildly, sometimes you can find them for $10, sometimes $30 or even more (sometimes, the seller claims to be selling US/UK/EU versions with only one being cheap, but as there is no charger included, there are no actual differences between them). You need to be patient, and sift through the console section carefully.

Hi @v47,

Can you perform a teardown of this device? I am curious to know what CPU it is using.

Last time I've tried this in a serious manner, I've busted the device (an X9), so I don't really want to (as I'm pretty happy with it). Just grab one off Ebay, they are ten bucks with a bit of searching as already mentioned.

Ok, I believe you.

If these things are so easy to find for $10, how about you sell me yours for $10 + shipping? You should have no problem replacing it for that price, right?

Please humiliate me by posting a link to this for $10.

Direct links to sellers may be considered advertisement so not going to post that, but an Ebay search should be ok, I think.

The black ones for $10 a bit further below are what you want, pay no attention to what plugs they have, as they have none.

Edited to be nicer. These don't go for $10. If you got one for that cool.

Ok, there is a small shipping charge, so technically, it's 11.72. Sorry for the inaccuracy - the seller apparently added the charge later.

Which "Ebay"?

@v47, Can you post a direct link to that item? Direct links to the items you bought are certainly allowed here, and for this exact reason as they short-circuit endless back and forth threads like this and the possibility of buying the wrong item for readers. See Hiei's posts, some of mine, and Jutley's posts (moderator) as proof that direct links are allowed and encouraged.

I cannot find it on USA ebay (www.ebay.com) with a search for that exact text in your image:

"16-bit Simulator Game Machine Multi-functional Game Player Present Kids Gaou"

Typing that phrase into DDG gives me a hit on "ebay.es" at a similar price, but the listing has ended/sold out. The other hits on DDG are all above the $25.63 you can get the item for on aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000018366280.html

Pop items number 264244514196 or 113709148064 into your ebay search window if the link I've posted doesn't work for you.

Apologies for the rude tone. This item is seemingly available for ~$12 USD within Western Europe, but is $25 and up for other regions. Very interested to see a European friend tear this device down and give chip shots.

Well, my console did arrive (you can see me holding it when you check the first post), but I'm indeed based in Europe - seems like they only ship there for some reason.

I guess I could get another one and ship it to you, but tracked shipping from EU to US is 10 more bucks. I don't think that's worth it.

Ok. I believe that you were acting in good faith this whole time. I apologize for any unneccessary brusqueness on my part.

In the future, feel free to post direct links to the exact item you bought. It makes things clearer for everyone ; )

No offense taken. Now that I think about it, it really does seem like something odd is going on - the plugs that don't exist, the shipping limitations, and the vastly different prices for different regions.

I'll probably try to grab another one just to see what happens (not too afraid, Ebay always got my money back when the seller didn't deliver).

Edit: Yeah, let's do it, I will post and let you know how it went. No problems with the purchase, $12 as advertised.

I found a teardown on steward's website of what looks to be the right device:

looks like ATJ2279B
