3DS or NGP - What will you buy?
« on: March 11, 2011, 11:04:04 pm »
Obviously this is going to be the next big console war, both handhelds offering totally new features that could make or break them.  But what does the Dingoo community think?  I would assume many of us will buy on or the other, or even both?

I would actually like to see Sony get up this time.  They have made all the changes they needed to the hardware side of things, I just hope they get the 3rd party development support.
So far....
NES, Master System, Lynx, Mega Drive, Mega CD, SNES, 3DO, Playstation, Saturn, N64, PS2, Dreamcast, XBOX, X360, PS3, Wii.....  And best of all... A320.

i'll probably end up buying both. i really like the sound of the NGP but the 3DS is out in just a couple of weeks so I'll probably be tempted. I had a go on one yesterday and was fairly impressed, though the 3D aspect will wear thin pretty quickly for me (it was way less distracting with 3D just turned off).

My A320 Dingoo handles all my mobile entertainment needs. I'd only buy the 3DS for the 3D gimmick, as I'm completely disappointed by Nintendo's console's appeal to 'serious' gamers in the sense of interesting titles to justify the console. So I won't be getting that for the games.

And even if I were to get the Sony for the games, that'd mean I'd have to choose between playing on the Dingoo vs the NGP. Whereas I'm content with the Dingoo as it is, so no justification to buy either for me. :D

I considered this question for a while before coming to my final conclusion that I will be buying NEITHER of them.

Why? Because I have an inkling that Sega has something big up their sleeves... call me ****ing crazy, and maybe I am... but hey... who knows.

call me ****ing crazy
Youre ****ing crazy.

I want to see the 3d effect in person before I decide if the 3ds is something I want now or wether to wait.I will get one just a question of when. As for the NGP I will have to Wait aswell. I doubt it will be affordable at launch for me, plus I want to hear about battery life etc.

I'm going to wait until both have come out. The NGP does look more appealing but so did the original PSP when it came out. I haven't touched my DS in years so unless the new one can really wow me I'm not going to even look at it (the 3D thing doesn't impress me)

My biggest complaint with the PSP is the games play more like demos than a real game, not enough meat in them. Especially for the price their not worth playing. If the NGP can play better quality games then its what I would get.
With my business and the travelling that I do I really need a good portable game system, my Dingoo A320 gets a ton more use than my PSP.

I was looking forward to the Dingoo A380 but it seems to have to many bugs to get right now, I'm going to wait until its working better to get one.

Considering my favourite top 3 consoles are 1. Dreamcast 2. 32x 3. Saturn or MasterSystem....  Too see SEGA get into the hardware market again would be fantasy come true for me.

I will definitely never ever buy a Nintendo DS. After the SNES Nintendo focussed only on little kiddies and the elderly. F them. I've played around a bit w/ a PSP in stores a bit and I was really impressed by it's processing power (read: 3D games and ye 'ol PS One games). And it's screen is better suited for movies. The NDS screen was only 240x160 pix. And I don't think the "3D" incarnation will be any better.

However, I do not see myself seriously playing an intricate 3D first person shooter in the train or in a park at springtime. I'd rather do that on a monitor or a HD TV at home. On the road one tends to play games for a very short time.  If I do not have the time to finish a game I become frustrated. ;) So I only re-play golden oldies. And we all know that there is only one device that rules supreme in that area: lightweight, cheap and super duper configurable. It the Dingoo. He he. ;D

The 3D-reality effect of the Nintendo 3DS seems to be gone when you move your head more than a millimeter. And who's interested in 'Kirby 3D-for-real' anyway? An FPS in which you can shoot all Nintendo's kiddie characters maybe fun, but else....

NDS actually has quite a few good "serious" games, the PSP also has it's fair share of kiddies tat. The kids' games get all the exposure but the quality titles are still there, same with the Wii which has some fantastic games.
I think the NDS is an excellent handheld, the PSP much less so although it is pretty good, i own both btw.

I think at the moment the 3DS is looking brilliant, already there's some essential titles like Zelda OOT, Starfox and Resident Evil.
PSP2 at the moment is just flashy hardware, hopefully there'll be a huge price cut and some top games announced before long.

Handhelds:
GPD XD 64gb, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket, PSP Go
Consoles:
XBox360, Wii, PS2 Slim, PSOne
PC:
HP Touchsmart 11 (AMD A6)
Voyo A1 Mini
Psion 5 & 5MX

Uhhh, what?

How was the NES, GB, or SNES any less "kiddie" than the Nintendos that came after it? They weren't.

A solid and fun game with a "kiddie" tone is greater than a crappy "mature" game, only dubbed so for weak superficial reasons (EXCESS and NEEDLESS sex, gore, and language).

I think a lot of the games that get a M rating from ESRB should get a "T". Like Half-Life 2 for example. That was a very sincere, intelligent game. It shouldn't be limited to "M" rating just because of some moderate realistic violence. A serious or complex story also shouldn't be limited to an "M" audience.

Stuff with a consistently profane, asinine tone to it, like Duke Nukem or Mortal Kombat, sure. That can be labeled as "Mature". But they should change it to "P", for "Profane". Since using "Mature" is pretty ironic.

ANYWAY, I won't even consider either console until at least the first revision (2000, Lite, whatever).
