It's because most people nowadays are casual gamers. They buy smartphones to be connected to social networks and game occasionally when extremely bored. They get the tablets for like $50 so the kids can play those crappy touchscreen games that are "free". And I say "free" because many parents don't read the eula and privacy policy of each game. You put blind parents to choose $50 with "free"games against $199 plus games separately. It seems like a no brainer. I think this is the beginning of the end for a specialized gaming device. Soon 3ds will follow then home consoles.
