Mp3 Player with Android)
« on: April 19, 2015, 11:19:05 am »
Hi there,

I few weeks ago I started jogging regularly to get in better shape. To reward myself I want to buy a New MP3-Player.

First I wanted to buy a 6th generation Ipod Nano, despite I don't like Itunes. Since it has a touch interface I falsely believed It runs a dummed down version of IOS and has Wifi which would let me sync my podcasts on the device rather than using my PC each time.
Now that I've learned that this is not possible with the Nano I looked for one of these Android Smartwatches you find on Geekbuying and Co. Unfortunately they all need a Smartphone to work with and I want a standalone device.

Therefore I registered here for asking for help to find a fitting MP3 Player. What it should have:
-Wifi to sync my podcasts automatically
-Possibility to manage Podcasts on the device (Don't care if an app or simple RSS feed Podcatcher)
-At least 4GB memory and/or MicroSD slot
-Clip or wristband (I would prefer a clip)
-Small size

What also would be great:
-Android as a operating system
-Jogging things like pedometer or pulsemeter

Thank you in Advance.

the cowon Z2 has been around for a while now, and runs a skinned version of Android. it's no power house by todays standards but i would imagine that there are plenty of custom ROMs/skins and hacks for it by now.

i think some of the "plenue" range from cowon also run android.

For the same purpose i bought a second hand xperia mini pro. It cost me 25 euros and apart from what you mention also lets me use Endomondo to record my running activities and serves as a backup phone. Usually it does not have a sim card and wifi is off so the battery lasts way longer than when you use it as a phone
