XMB launcher for Android?
« on: April 07, 2013, 10:30:21 pm »
Has anyone found an XMB-style applauncher for Android that would work on an S7300? I've googled but the only thing I've come up with is one that only works on Xperia Play.

(XMB is the UI used by the PS3 and PSP; Horizontal line of categories that houses vertical lines of options)

It would probably be trivial to port it since it's already running on Android, and I'd love to see this for the S7300 :)

I haven't actually received my S7300 yet, goddamn slow China shipping times :p

well since it has a git the only porting would be to either make a module from the needed frameworks or making a derived firmware that has the framework res for the launcher, shouldn't be to hard to look at just something to add to the pile of work :)

update: It just has a check lock in the manifest to detect the device lol. I wonder if just letting it be global makes it run. other than that it would need remapping of the key bind checks to the jxd ones. that said ill talk to vektor about it and maybe it can be done as a sidefirm option for ncce to run this launcher. however i only looked at the files briefly due to the other things in the agenda it might need work if its using a xperia specific api, lets just hope its not as it would be cool to have a jxd theme like the psp.

Preferably it would be an app and not a whole firmware; I'd still like to access the normal android ui, so just a straight port would be fine, as long as keybinds work :p

that depends on the aps use of the api structure. Its based for GB and our device is JB, however i saw that it has sort of embedded emulator launching and we are working on a front-end for emus so it might be possible to have this as a theme option if it doesn't work natively on the jxd(after lock removal and reassign of the keys) It all depends on the time available, but having access to this projects code makes it a lot easier to work with not to mention the graphic artists :) would be cool if it launched and sorted every apk per list. also I wonder if it has a hide feature, to hide unwanted listed apps, I know its possible due to w7launch just wonder if the coder working on this source had the time to implement it.

Split the thread into a separate thread for discussion of this now ongoing development:
