Wireless Storage Hub, stream to your JXD
« on: January 12, 2014, 12:07:10 pm »
So I was thinking of ways to eliminate the internal storage limitations, everybody wants more space for stuff right?
I haven't tested these myself but I know there are a few different brands and models around. What it basically does is turn your microSD or any other SD card into a wireless receiver for the hub, encrypting your data and streaming content to it. I'm not sure how well these might work or the limitations they hold. Maybe the hub could be flashed an modified itself? Also, these things advertise being able to stream movies, music, files etc, but I wonder if they can stream Roms?
Take a look...

Here's one from Sony that's a little different.

I may be wrong, but if this device is similar to the mobile wireless flash and HDD drives, the streaming is implied only media (audio and video) files and only with accompanying client app on recepient device. You can use it as wireless file exchanger but cannot mount it to the system as storage, which means that you cannot move game data to the wireless drive, navigate it with file explorer and "play" roms directly from it.

Just use cifs and mount a network cifs drive with cifs manager or mount manager apk with all your roms an stuff. It's what I do in 5110B when I play at home.

What other options are there? I figured their would be limitations with files and stuff I just wanted to start a thread that may come up with a good external solution.

Doesn't CIFS require a kernel module? I Had read that it does not work on 4.2.2
what files are you using?

I've been using ES explorer to access window shares, Im pretty sure it actually copies the the file rather then streams it but it works pretty well.
