Power button reboot issues - here's a new kernel to fix.
« on: July 16, 2014, 03:14:43 am »
Thanks to Jonbd; I have created is a special 116-7 ROM release which includes a new kernel (1.4GHz) that will fix the power button acts as a hardware reset "issues" (only effects select 2014 units).

Special thanks to Jonbd for donating the kernel to the community. .
Pretty sure this is the only ROM release that will work correctly with the newest JXD S7800B hardware.
If all works out, I'll update this to 116-9 (1.4GHz only).

Great news and a big thanx to WebClaw.

But why only 1.4ghz ? It seems to me that the new S7800b's work fine with 1.6ghz and gpu oc. Mine does (bought from geekbuying). I played for 2 ours yesterday without prob. As soon as sleep-mode sets in your're screwed but otherwise it worked fine.

Newer kernels (1.5.X) are compressed meaning typical measures to overclock / modify the native clockspeed is not possible without the actual source. Older kernels were not compressed - hence why they could be overclocked.

I agree, these units can most likely run at 1.6GHz (stable).

Frankly speaking, I have never seen s7800 get past 1.4xxGHz speed. Always below 1.6GHz. Using Conservative and noop.

Using Performance is really bad idea though.

I hadn't seen direct confirmation, but I've just tried this version and it seems to resolve the issue. Thanks WebClaw!

Hi WebClaw. I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind. The first one is if this rom, since it's based on a newer kernel, has the right thumbstick working? And the second one, either if you upgrade this rom to your latest release or not, would it be too much trouble for you to release a 4GB nand version? To have more space for heavy apps. Thanks for your time.

Not sure if it's fixed in this release. However given the other 1.5X kernels fixed the issue I would assume it is.
I've not had the time to update the 116-9 releases to this kernel (which has the various parameters 2G, 4G, 6G, etc. - but I will in the future.

Thanks for your hard work, WebClaw. If that kernel solves the sleep/reset and the right thumbstick problems, plus your enhancements... that'd be awesome.

It's difficult for me to flash my unit, since my home computer only has USB 3.0 ports, I can only change roms at work, but I'll give this one a try as soon as I can :).
