JXD s7800b Memory Card Compatibility
« on: January 04, 2014, 11:06:02 pm »
I was wondering what memory cards were compatible on this device.  I've been using a 32GB Micro SD card (SDHC) since I got it.  I recently ordered and received a 64GB memory card off Amazon (not from one of those shady traders) and I realized it was the wrong kind. (SDXC)
I've heard that certain users got 64 GB SDHC cards working after formatting to FAT32.  Is that legitimate?  If so, what brand(s) work(s)?  I'm really hoping for a larger memory solution.  I don't wanna have to lug around an external hard drive and have to keep it plugged into an outlet.

I haven't heard of a sdhc 64gb, I'm the manager of the local 'The Source' and all of our various skis for 64gb are xd.
You don't have to lug a power adapter. I hook up a flash drive to mine for movies and it works just fine. Haven't tried a 64gb, but my 32gb works.

Pretty much
Its not really physical compatibly that's the problem its licensing Microsoft owns ex-fat that sdxc uses
Try one if it doesn't work try reformating to fat32

Only thing is there is a hidden section on SD cards that handle security some times this is lost when formatting that nullifies that function probably not an issue in most cases

Strontium Nitro 64gb sdxc card. Insert sd card. Reboot into cw recovery. Mount sd card. Format card. Reboot. That worked for me. Hope that works for you.

I'm using a Lexar 64GB MicroSDXC card, formatted at Fat32. The S7800 has no problem accessing the entire card either, so I'd say 64GB cards work just dandy with it.

Snagged mine for $40 :)

I meant I'd have to provide power to an external hard drive if I were to use one.

I've tried formatting using various programs, and none of them worked. (Including using command prompt.)

I just tried that.  No luck with that. :/

You can get SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC on Amazon for $48.25

That's actually the exact card I ordered.  Whenever I look to see if it's working in ES File Explorer, it says something along the lines of "No SD Mounted."

How did you go about formatting it to FAT32?  That's my main issue.  I'm sure if I could actually get it to format, it would work just fine.

EDIT: I got it working.  I noticed the JXD said something about the memory card on the notification bar.  It asked if I wanted to format.  I did this several times, and it still didn't work.  So I went into recovery and did it there.  I ended up alternating between the two several times, but I finally got it.

Congratulations on getting it right. I went through the same process but cwm solved it. Only thing is not really knowing what is the final file system. Could be fat32.

Yeah, it's FAT32.  At least that's what Windows says.

Hi,

I also use a Sandisk 64gb sdxc UHS I card. It works fine, but sometimes my device loses connection to the storage. Only usb plug in to pc and reboots help.

Flash memory is pretty cheeap nowadays. i payd about 45? for my card and also bought 32gb for 15?!! in our supermarket.

Are you using the Supercharged firmware?  The SD is mounted as internal memory.  I haven't had problems with memory cards other than trying to get my 64 GB formatted correctly.

I picked up a SanDisk 64 gig xc - Formatted it to Fat32.

My 7800 reads it just fine - but Root explorer swears it's only 60 gig. My computer, however, sees the full 64 (even through the 7800 via USB) - making transferring stuff a bit tricky. Purposely transferring UNDER 60 gig worth of files, so I can then add things and see if it will read the last 4 gig...

Could be like HDD mfg do
They'll count in units of 1000 instead of 1024
It adds up into gigabytes after a while
60gb sounds about right

64,000,000,000 bytes / 1024 / 1024 / 1024 = 59.6GB give or take

Thanks, Joe! That makes sense. Almost done transferring to check it out - it's been HOURS...   >:(

I suppose using GParted from a Linux machine (or a live-CD) would work.
