How to remove "cell standby"
« on: November 17, 2013, 10:32:49 am »
I've been trying to figure out to get rid of "cell standby" on the battery screen and most things I've found don't work. Can anyone help out?

Have you tried removing phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk
EDIT:
stk.apk can also be removed since thats just the sim toolkit.

That's what I did, and it resolved it. The apks can be found in /system/apps.

Which file explorer should be used because I tried a few and get unable to delete or rename.

Use ES file explorer. First you have to enable Root Explorer - scroll down the left-hand menu til you find it, and turn it on. Then click on the words "Root Explorer" (not the on/off button), and select "Mount R/W". Then set the filesystem to be r/w. Once that's done, you should be able to delete them no problem (or move them, like I did in case I found later on that something was reliant on them).

Tried it and nothing says "mount r/w" when I tap root explorer. I give up. I really hate this tablet right now. There's so many things wrong with it. JXD put out a product and don't even want to support it.

Is there an on/off button for Root Explorer? Does it turn on?

If not, follow the steps (in another thread) to fix root on your device. I think you'll find a lot of the problems are related to the device not being rooted properly.

Sounds more like your supsersu hasn't got the right permissions. Try re-rooting the device, should solve your problem.

Exactly. It's definitely frustrating that it didn't come properly rooted for some people, but there is a fix available for it.

RacerX, instead of hating your tablet, why don't you try fixing root on it? I've suggested multiple times on the main thread (not to you, but in general) that people should fix their root access issues before they do anything else, but no-one ever responds to me. Instead there are just more and more posts about how "this doesn't work" and "that doesn't work".

Someone (I can't remember who, so I apologize) went to the trouble of figuring out how to fix root and posted the steps. I don't understand why people don't just fix it.

TRUST ME, you want proper working root access. You'll be amazed how many issues you're seeing are simply the result of improper root access... this one problem results in a multitude of side effects.

Thanks all. I got a little flustered earlier when I posted that and went out for a bit. I'll give re-rooting it a shot.

Can anyone point me to where the steps to re-root are? Been going through the pages of the main 7800 thread and can't find it.

The "Find Rockchip 3188 Root patch from Rockchip themselves" has me in a bind because I can't find downloads on their site.  Sorry to be such a loser about this but I don;t want to make a mistake and brick this thing. Where do I find the patch?

Ill just upload you my copy, the TPSparkyRoot batch script handles the whole rooting process.

First of all, you need to download this:
http://www.share-online.biz/dl/54FMSCQM0U
Replace the RootExplorer.apk with an updated one.
Same with SuperSU.apk.

Now, follow these steps:
1. On the device, enter settings, developer options, and enable USB debugging.
2. Connect the device to to your computer via USB.
3. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH BATTERY FOR A 10 MINUTE OPERATION. If the device shuts off in the middle of the process, you might need to reinstall the firmware.
4. Run TPSparkyRoot.bat and follow the on screen instructions.

Your device is supposed to reboot 3 times in the process. In the end, you'll have a rooted device with Root Explorer and SuperSU.

Yeah, I found that site earlier and installed the drivers. Thanks for the heads up anyway.

I'm on completing root so we'll see if we're ok.

EDIT: Looks like it's good to go. Thanks for the help, guys. I apologize again for being a dummy about all this.
