Bricked 7800
« on: April 11, 2014, 11:20:43 am »
Hi,

I got my 7800 and was trying to update the firmware to the 1.6ghz as it was running at 1.42ghz. Dragged over the image file to the sd card and chose install on the popup. It rebooted and started to install and then stopped and the screen went dead, left alone and its not been doing anything since. I have tried the reset button but it doesn't respond. Is that it bricked :(

When connected to a pc it said unknown device

Press Vol+ and the power button together, it will reboot in safe mode and allow you to install another rom.
The problem is that early devices run rk3188, which is capable of reaching 1.6 and even 1.8 GHz. Newer devices run rk3188-t which can only reach 1.4 GHz. Choose the firmware that is compatible with your device - my current recommendation is Webclaw's firmware.

Hi,

I did I try that yesterday but the screen remained blank, will try it again when i get in

If i connect it to the pc and it shows as unknown device, am i right in thinking i can install the drivers and flash via RKTools.

Thanks
in advance

It will show a blank screen, however the device will reboot in safe mode.
In that state, when connected to a computer, it will be identified as an rk3188/-t device, allowing you to flash a new rom.

hi, i am new to this forum and i really need help. i just received my jxd s7800b today and this very same incident happened to me, difference is when i try this method it connects and disconnects and will not stay connected. i followed the steps on another thread for an update (not custom firmware).all was going well and then it just shut off. i have no idea what to do, i've been scrolling through over threads but must of them link me to another site where and about a different tablet. any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you tried to flash firmware via RK Batch Tool?

Drem is correct.
Unless you flash the device in safe mode, it will not stay connected. Uploading the firmware to the SD card and flashing from it is NOT a viable option once you've bricked your device.
Another possibility is that you've simply run out of battery, so charge your device for ~60 minutes before trying again.

Hey guys, I'm getting the same issue. However when I try to put it in recovery mode (Volume + and Power on) the PC doesn't recognise it properly and lists it as:

Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

I've tried different cables and USB ports.

This is on a PC that I have used previously for flashing.

Any ideas?
