Not a fan of bumping old threads, I figured this is acceptable because it's the main thread for the device.
Made an account just to contribute to this; bought one of these off Amazon the other day not realising it had no custom OS just yet. Disappointed to open it and see that there's no onboard TF card etc.
However I may have found something interesting if someone who knows more than me can run with it.Usually the USB port seems to only charge and do nothing else. But do the following and it will at least mount the inserted TF card to USB.
- 1. Charge the device until the red LED at the back turns off
- 2. While the device is powered off, insert the USB cable
- 3. With the TF card inserted, power on the device.
- 4. At first it will show the battery icon and then switch to the USB icon. This should appear now as Ingenic JzSOC USB-DISK USB Device in Device manager. It may flicker between the two and Windows makes a bunch of disconnect/reconnect sounds. Just start again if it does this, it doesn't always work
This doesn't work if you plug in the USB cable while it's powered on, re-connect the cable after initially being in USB Disk mode or if the battery isn't 100%. It seems the device exclusively charges if the battery isn't at 100%.
Maybe this is common knowledge and not as interesting as I thought (it's not mentioned in the manual or anywhere else I can find) but perhaps someone with far better knowledge than me is able to use this as a foothold to get into the onboard storage?
