Coolboy RS-97 RetroGame 45$ Dingux handheld
« on: December 12, 2017, 08:35:20 am »
Seems to be another emulator with the same Ingenic chip as the Retromini, however this one comes preloaded with many different emulators. Also strangely, seems to come with the K1 Flash cart, according to the product images.

Some info provided thanks to onthebridge:

Nice and little handheld with not so bad controls and good build quality. The onboard emulators are not perfect by any means (https://boards.dingoonity.org/other-game-systems/revo-k101-shell-used-in-another-device/msg172737/#msg172737) but what makes this gadget a contender is its price and the possibility it will get opendingux as an alternative firmware. Looks like you can run .dge files on it (legacy Dingux executables)
Good ol“Dingoo fun all over again.

In the buy links specs are usually wrong, the proper ones are as follows:

Is that ingenic chip any more powerful than the dingoo a320. Seems weird that we're stuck with processors that are years and years old.

All the promo material says it's jz4725b. Are you sure you're correct?

We NEED better firmware for this BEAST! We need Opendingux support too. This could be the REVO-Dingoo revival no one was expecting...

So can the hacked in dmenu for the PAP-KIII Plus be used on this? Would be nice to see an OD handheld with nicer build quality.

Pretty cool to see Ingenic based Dingux consoles appearing though.

Btw this is now on sale at £34/$46 through the OP's AliExpress link, same price as the PAP-KIII Plus:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/RETRO-Handheld-Game-Console-3-0-inch-classic-Player-built-in-1151-different-games-Support-for/32845815913.html

Promo says it's the JZ4725B though, dunno if that's correct.
Handhelds:
GPD Win, GPD XD 64gb, Pap KIII-Plus, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket, PSP Go
PC:
HP Envy M6
Acer 522
Psion 5 & 5MX

Is there anyone here that can help us port OD to the K101 Pro device? What is needed in order to get this thing flashed up and booting OD? It uses a JZ7460. That chip is compatible with OD right?

Hoping someone with the knowledge steps up and lets us know if performance on this device can be improved. The one review i saw was favorable and something in this form factor would be great for me
