I tried this hack today on my papiiiplus and all seems to work well only wish the dingux games were stretched to fill the whole screen is there any way to do this?

I have a PAP Gameta II (same thing as PAP KIII esentially). I tried putting an MP4 video in an external SD card, and it didn't load. Is there some sort of criteria to get it to work?

Also, is there a way to drop a firmware file in the device? Does it even have a firmware upgrade option? I think i read somewhere that it claims to support firmware update but it was never clear on instructions on how to.

You can add Zoom = "true" to the config to do that.

There is a firmware flash app, but we don't have any new firmware to flash.
I have a new version of the dmenu which supports image previews of games, but it needs more testing. Im currently traveling back from ces and have also a revo 101 waiting for me to work on ;D

What is this firmware flash app?

The updater can be found in /boot/local/apps/update/update.bin. It requires all 5 firmware files:
- uImage
- mbr-uboot-msc.bin
- rootfs.ext3
- configfs.ext3
- appfs.ext3

Please don't flash anything right now. We don't have a new firmware and it is specific for the device

Device-specific? What if it's also a JZ4755 processor device?

K3P has a jz4760 and no, you cant just flash another firmware. It contains drivers for example the display etc.

I mean, i know you made the dmenu for PAP KIII Plus, but somehow it also works for PAP Gameta II.  So somehow that proves that they may share common drivers. I'm not denying your point--just saying.

Does anyone know if this can access the internal memory in Windows like the RS-97 does?

You are mistaking firmware with programs running on it. Both the K3P and the Gameta II are running dingux, thats the most basic requirement for the apps. For the Gameta II its even possible its the same device in a different case

@jutley you can accesss the memory if the K3P is connected to your pc prior to booting the K3P, then both the internal fat32 and the sdcard are mounted as drives

I finally made another release of the dmenu.

New in this release:
- added preview images for roms: Supported are only png files named exactly like the rom without extension
- filtering of files in rom folder using extensions: The save state files are not showing up anymore ;D

I changed the paths of some sdl emulators to look for e.g roms/gba and roms/gba_previews. Look at the themes/ipen_en/theme.cfg for how it is configured.

The position of the preview image is fixed, its best to use 200px wide images. If the image is larger, it gets clipped.

Have fun!

Nice work Jack83! This is exciting and very appreciated. Great to see things moving along. Quick question if anyone has some guidance.

-Since the preview images need to match the rom filenames, is there any easy way to batch rename and resize the images to 200px wide instead of having to do these things manually for hundreds of files?

Looking forward to trying the dmenu update.

I have a more or less complete set of "ressurectionXtras". They are already named accordingly and contain cover, title images, action images etc. Just search for them, but they are quite large!

For the resizing, I used something like "mogrify -resize200 *.png" on the windows 10 linux subsystem. It replaces all images with a 200px version. But I think ImageMagick on windows can do the same thing
