Do yourself a favour and don't bother with the native emulators. These work much better:

https://github.com/JackD83/dmenu/raw/master/release/emulator.zip

and Dingux Commander:

https://github.com/JackD83/dmenu/raw/master/release/apps.zip

Also I notice the removable battery is a 18650 2000mAh one

So I went and ordered these:

Hello,

Completely new to this forum and to this system, you have suggested the RS-07 native emulators aren't very good, do I simply have to extract your recommended emulators to an SD card and run them from there using the RS-07's file browser?

Thank you for your work!

They're not my work unfortunately (a user called JackD83) but you are correct about using the file browser. A better thing you could do is pm another user called gameblabla who has done excellent work with another device and also has an experimental custom firmware for the Retro Arcade Mini. He might give you the link if you ask nicely enough!

I recovered a battery life of a laptop and I have to dismount to recover lithium batteries, it works. This is a good solution if you have a laptop battery old.

It appears there is a new firmware at https://jutleys.wixsite.com/retrogamers97-90
Is this the official firmware for this device or a custom one? and if it's custom is it the one gameblabla was working on and posted videos for? I would try it out but im waiting for a new micro SD card to arrive, im not messing with the one in the machine incase nothing works.

This is Gameblabla's early CFW preview... It is very early version but still much better that the stock FW IMHO as the games run much better.

FBA is working really well ;)

Cool thanks, Cant wait to try it and see what else I can play and what runs better. I wonder why they uploaded a very early CFW preview instead of waiting for a proper release? Still not complaining.

gameblabla, jutley,...fantastic work. ya know I seem to be spamming the k3p and if its annoying I'm sorry. This excites me because it has the same resolution screen as the k3p. If development for this sheds light on any progress for that device I would gladly take the ball and run (to my capabilities). The rs97 gets so much attention its nice to see other devices come along.

How many emulators and games come with this? I know it says 3000 games but I know Chinese companies tend to lie when it comes to these kind of things.
Its looks like a pretty cool device, wish it had a slightly bigger screen but things look pretty crisp and clear.

Some games are on multiple systems so the total amount of totally different games will be lower. You can easily add more games by plugging in a micro sd card into the back or opening the machine and adding them to the internal sd card that holds the os and roms.

Arcade CPS2 - 48
Famicom Nes - 679
Super Famicom Snes - 496
Game boy - 207
Game boy color - 166
Game boy advance - 783
Megadrive - 622
Total - 3001

The custom OS link contains more emulators but you have to provide the roms yourself, you can copy the roms from the internal sd card before overwriting it or copy the custom os to a new sd card and save the original. The only thing missing at the moment is the Megadrive emulator but overall this runs much better than stock.

fba-a320 - Arcade Neo Geo, CPS1 / 2, Cave, Toaplan and PGM
fceux - NES
gnuboy - Gameboy/Colour
gpsp - Game Boy Advance
handy - Atari Lynx
oswan - Wonderswan
Pocket Snes - Snes
sms_sdl - game gear, master system
Speccy - Spectrum
Vice - Commodore 64, C128, VIC-20, the Plus/4Commodore 64, C128, VIC-20, the Plus/4

Hi,

First of all, I'd like to thank jutley for its work on the custom firmware that really suits the RS-07.  ;)

If I'm here, that's because I have two questions to ask : is it normal that I get no menu in any emulator ? When I launch FBA, I can only browse the folders in my ?SD card in order to launch games ; I don't get the usual FBA menu, with the list of supported games, as well as I can't select any option.

Is it something that we might have in a near future or is there a way to correct this ?

Thanks in advance for your forthcoming answers.

Best regards to all of you, alternative systems lovers !  8)

This is intentional because the GUI menu for FBA A320 was horribly buggy and simply does not work at all.
What option do you want to select anyway ? This version of FBA does not support rotations unlike FBA-GCW0.

I'd have FBA to show a proper list of the games available (for the moment I can only select the games by the ROM's names, which is not really user friendly). And I'd love to be able to change ratio (a 4/3 fitting the upper and bottom parts of the screen would be nice).

For the moment, we can only have games stretched to 16/9 or shown in a small 4/3 window, depending on the emulator used. Hopefully emulators / GUI will be optimised in the future.

After loading Gameblabla's firmware on my RS-07, and deciding that taking the RS-07 apart isn't something I want to keep doing, I decided to mount an SD card extension from the inside SD card slot to the back of the case:

This is the extension cable:

They're around ?6 on Amazon, probably cheaper on Aliexpress/etc.
