Really good to hear. When you get it, please give us your opinion of it and how it stacks up against other retro handhelds you have.

Hello all,
How are FBA and MAME4All on RS-97?
Specifically, can one/both run 1990s games fluently with sound? And even more specifically, Capcom CPS1/2 and Sega System16/18?
Thanks!

Mame still sucks.

Hoping Slaanesh likes the LDK and ports mame, like he has done for other devices

I'm on it. I've got an RG3000 and just yesterday and LDK.

I just this moment put on RetroFW on my RG3000.

I was hoping that USB networking would be enabled but so far doesn't look like it is.

RG3000? What is it? Never heard of it. Since you are talking about RetroFW I assume it is an handheld.

It's just the "Retro Game - 3000 in 1". Basically an RS-97, in my case it's the 320x480 screen version.

I wish I would have got the newer version (RS-97 plus) instead, the taller screen mode is useless really.

You wish you didn't, as that version has a terrible screen that can't go above 30 Hz, not to mention lack of vsync.

Oh, okay, so it's not great either?
I can live without v-sync. The Dingoo A320 didn't have vsync either.
But not being able to go above 30hz... that's a show stopper for me! I mean WTF?

Anyway I just got an LDK too and on first inspection it looks nice though I haven't looked closely at some details.
This device already came with Retro FW so it looks like reflashing isn't necessary, is that correct?
I'm hoping now that it's screen refresh is normal - at least 60hz?

Will you still port mame to the RS-97 despite the 320x480 screen?

Though the screen is still 320x480, userspace only needs to target 320x240, as the kernel in RetroFW then takes care of upscaling that to 320x480 using the IPU, resulting in little to no CPU usage involved.

Anyway I just got an LDK too and on first inspection it looks nice though I haven't looked closely at some details.

It comes with my Useless firmware, which i have discontinued work on it.
For RetroFW, you'll have to upgrade to it manually but fortunately the internal sd card slot is easily accesible right under the battery slot :
no need to remove any screws.

And yes, the screen is 60Hz with vsync and all, no need to worry about that.

So yeah, slasneesh that's why you should come back more often here : that would have saved you a lot of time...

If you are on Linux, there will be a separate guide for it.
If you are on Windows 7, you can follow most of the steps below except for the fact it can't mount sd cards with multiple partitions which is our case so be careful.

I'm have access to two laptops, unfortunatelly mine has Linux, and the one at my work has Windows 7.

Can I install retrofw using dd, something like: dd if=retroFW.img of=/dev/sdb with some additional parameters?

Another alternative would be install the .img using Windows 7 (workplace laptop) and then resize the partition using Gparted (linux on my personal laptop).

Thanks in advance. (I'm still waiting for the delivery of my RS-97 btw, so I have time to RTFM again and again)

EDIT: fix my shitty english

Yes but you also need to modify the bat scripts as to use your system's dd and turn it into an sh script.

Btw, following this tutorial using Windows 7 will still work fine and you can still put your apps through USB.

Yes, it's already in testing.
