DosBox Frontend on RetroFW??
« on: September 09, 2019, 02:57:00 pm »
Have both an LDK Landscape and RG300 and really want to get DosBox working on them. I use it on my laptop with
D-Fend Reloaded which is a nice and simple front end to load games. Is there a chance of creating this for DosBox on the RetroFW firmware?

I've considered a lot of ways to do a front-end, but none of them have come to fruition yet. Well, except for one.

Have you tried using the DOS icon under systems? Not the DOSBox launcher under Emulators, but the icon that literally says "DOS"?

If you use that, it should let you find an EXE, COM, or BAT file to launch. It will launch with max performance settings which should work fine for most games. If you need to adjust the settings, press the power button to bring up the menu. Duke Nukem 2, for example, will run better if you limit cycles to 2000 - 2500.

For CDROM games like Cyberia, you'll want to create a BAT file that mounts the CDROM iso as the D drive before launching the executable.

Hope that helps!
