RetroFW 2.0 has also other issues (including one where they seemingly moved $HOME to another location which can't be written to or has permission issues) so i would hold off on updating to it for now.

Actually $HOME is quite writeable... it can also be moved to any dir, internal and external by users from Settings' HOME PATH setting.

I'm not sure what's the problem with your OPK build of PCSX4ALL.... I can tell the previous IPK one still works perfectly and saves everything correctly (as do all the other emus/ports apart from Cave Story OPK, which is trying to write on its own directory -not on home- and that's obviously impossible with an OPK... just use the IPK for now).

It also seems to be pretty prone to crashing, especially when entering the menu... and most often I can't even enter the menu itself: you might want to fix it. In the meanwhile I'd suggest users to just use the IPK, which works perfectly as it always did.

Thanks.
msx

PS: IPU scaling seems to be working perfectly though... nice.

It is not supported and i can't give support for it either. Pymenu has loads of issues on the arcade mini.

At this moment, this firmware is the best of all the posibilities that can be used for the arcade machine.

The retrofw 2.0 doesn't implement external controllers to play two players at the same time and pymenu (1.6) generates multiple random crashes for this machine.

Great work!

Does Useless Firmware support the GUI version of Final Burn Alpha or the new version of Final Burn Alpha ?

If it does, is there anyway to boot straight to Final Burn Alpha GUI from power on and by pass the firmware menu?

Thanks

The GUI was removed and it was intentional : it uses the old Dingoo A320 release of FBA and that version had a buggy GUI that was not detecting roms properly at times.
It was just better to skip it entirely and boot straight to the game using Gmenu2x's rom selector.
Why do you want it ? Switch M68k cores ? C68k is the only good one.

I like to filter the games... but not always... Sometimes you can only play the clones as the main rom is slow or doesn't work at all.

I dont like the RS-07 for console games... I would just rather boot to the FBA GUI and use it as a mini desktop arcade machine :)

I would still like to see animated GIF files as the image preview option as well... I think they look pretty cool as an alternative to "Hyperspin" style videos.

Will the updated pymenu or retroFW with support for controls be developed for RS-07?

I cannot answer that question, only Jack the developper of PyMenu can.
Also as far as i know, they haven't released the newer version with support for external controllers yet. (they claim it is working but it was not my experience so far)

I recall him releasing a version compatible for RetroFW 2 though, so you can give it a try.

I think it is a preview / early release.. a few things do not work.

Hello, I installed your firmware 1.33.4, everything works perfectly, and I like it very much. I want to change the boot screen of this firmware. Is there a way?

It can't be easily replaced : it is built inside the kernel and the boot loader. The image data is uncompressed so one could very well replace it
but you would have to replace the 2 copies found in the first 8MB sectors of the firmware image.
I forgot exactly where it was but looking at it with a hex editor should give you an idea.

Hey gameblabla,

I think I have asked this before, but any idea how to boot the RS-07 Arcade Mini direct to Final Burn Alpha (fbasdl) ?

Thanks

Does anybody have a link to previous versions of this firmware? I'm trying to get 1.32. Tv-Out in last version doesn't work properly  :(

It seems that TV Out is unreliable when the console is clocked at anything more than 528mhz.
You could try RetroFW 2.0 since it supports TV out properly on that device but consequently you can't use my arcade mini ports here and you'll be stuck with the RS-97 ports and no joystick support.

There's a script file on the FAT32 partition that you can edit to directly run any apps from it.
Right now its configured for ./gmenu2x but you can easily edit it.
