For performance the best option to scale cps1 and cps2 games is 16:9 full screen.
Actually it would be mostly the same in our case. However, the issue being that FBA supports more than 20+ different screen resolutions.
It's much easier to just tell it to fill the screen instead of doing something like a keep aspect ratio thing especially when you have weird resolutions like 768x256.

How about force all FBA games display in 362x272, which is 4:3 "full screen" for the RS-07 screen. Should be the same from coding perspective but will look much better.

In my opinnion the best way is force all games in FBA in full screen.

@gameblabla, is not posible use your sdlfix for FBA scaling?

Regards.

Sorry, but I just don't understand this preference of distorted graphic.

Only with small screens and underpowered systems.

Hi All, probably a very silly question: I have installed the new firmware on the Retro Arcade , but it doesn't read my external sd card where I have placed the roms. Does the card need to be formatted in a certain way or it needs a roms folder to be created?

Note that if you are using Windows, you may have to format said external sd card with the SD Memory Card Formatter here :
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

It requires a single FAT32 partition. No special folders needed.
Alternatively, you can use the USB ports instead and mount your USB stick via the menu.

Alright, i have published an update to PocketSNES in a form of a package here :
https://gameblabla.nl/files/ipk/rs07/

Changelog:
- Adds "Keep Aspect" option in the settings.

Said package is profile-guided optimized too of course.

How to install such packages
It's a bit different from RetroFW : You need to go to "Install a Package" App and then select said pkg7 file.
Select it and it should decompress it.

What if something goes wrong ?
Change the extension from .pkg7 to .7z and manually extract it on the root of your sd card.

I hope in the future though i can just support the IPK format instead but since pingflood has not yet released the source code
for GmenuNx, this will do for now.

I plan to do the same for PCSX4ALL, Handy and FBA-A320.

Nothing right now. I did not bother with MAME because it's very slow on the RS-97 as it is and i refuse to work with that mess.
Slaneesh said he was working on a revamp of it, like 3 months ago but i'm not holding my breath for it...
However, Tony is making some progress towards IPU support and he managed to make it work.
Pingflood further confirmed this with his own findings (but noticed it got slower in PocketSNES for some reasons, strange).
So yeah, given that most arcade games uses a bunch of weird resolutions, i prefer waiting on tony adding support for the Arcade Mini's LCD panel to the kernel so we also get IPU there.

I'm working on trying to port SRB2 Kart to the RS-97 and RS-07. Nothing as of right now though.

Hi Gameblabla,

once again thank you very much for all your hard work on RS-97 and RS-07
I'm sorry to ask but is it possible to port the same RS-97 MAME emulator from the Useless rom to RS-07 with minimal efforts?   Some very old games like 1943 and bubble bobble runs fine on RS-97 so I'm hoping to play it on RS-07 too
