I was using Genesis Plus GX on my Pocket Go v2 and the emulator itself is great!
Except I wanted different button layouts (configs) for Mega Drive and Master System.
Also the menu button was not mapped. This made me wonder if I could change these things myself...
The answer is yes.  ;) Maybe there are others that would like these functions as well.

So I now present you 4 different OPK's of Genesis Plus GX.
All 4 versions have the menu button mapped as... menu button.
All 4 versions have a different icon.
All 4 versions save their config in a different folder so that you can have different configs for the different systems.

Sega Genesis (GenesisPlusGX_sg.opk) saves in: /usr/local/home/.genplus_sg/
Sega Mega Drive (GenesisPlusGX_smd.opk) saves in: /usr/local/home/.genplus_smd/
Sega Master System (GenesisPlusGX_sms.opk) saves in: /usr/local/home/.genplus_sms/
Sega Game Gear (GenesisPlusGX_sgg.opk) saves in: /usr/local/home/.genplus_sgg/

Sega Mega Drive download
Sega Master System download

Nice one thanks!

The extra buttons not being used in emulators is annoying.
Handhelds:
GPD Win, GPD XD 64gb, PlayGo, RS-90, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket c/w screen mod, PSP Go
PC:

I will have a look if that's possible (for me) to change.

Yes and no. They should work as in playing games. But I've mapped the menu button on the PG2 as menu button.
This button is non-existent on the RG350, so accessing the menu won't work.

I don't have a RG350 myself and a little bit short in spare time.
But if I do have some spare time I can give it a go. Just need to know which button the RG350 uses.

Looks great, but what's the difference between the genesis and the mega drive??
Also, I had an issue with both picodrive and plus GX playing Lost Vikings in the PG2. The R/L buttons did nothing so I couldn't find a way to switch character!?! Do you have the same issue? Is it solved with your version?
thanks.

Technically Nothing... But if you like a neat and tidy roms folder then you can keep things seperate for both systems. Its also less to scroll through

Have you looked to see if you can map the keys in the emulator ? (I have not tried myself)

Maybe it's a problem with that specific rom. The emulator recognizes L/R when mapping keys, but they still do nothing in game. I'll check if it happens with other games.

OK tested on RG350.
Unfortunately although they do run start for pause does not work and pressing select/start together or the power button doesnt bring up the emulator settings so cant adjust emu settings and also cannot exit either without pressing reset.

Pity,is anyone able to mod these so they are fulling working on the RG350?

edit: I found one work around. I can just put on two copies of the same emulator that work on RG350 and if I use Rogue FW I can just rename them.
However icons are same and any emu settings I change and save as global seems to apply to both.
Still,it does work I guess.

You can change the icons using "OpenPackageCreator"

1) Extract the Genesis Plus GX.opk using 7zip - Example Right click & extract to Genesis Plus GX
2) Find another icon you like and add it to the extracted "Genesis Plus GX" (the icon size MUST be 32x32)
3) Delete the old icon and rename the new icon to exact name of the one you deleted.
4) Run the "OpenPackageCreator" then drag & drop the unzipped Genesis Plus GX folder across
5) Select middle option "Use existing as is"
6) Now press "Pack" and choose a new name for the OPK - Example Genesis Plus GX ICON or whatever
7) Copy to apps folder and test :)

Hope this helps

Thanks ace9094,Ill give that a go.

Also,I found out though with the Rogue FW it also has the option to change icon image,handy as well.
But ofcourse actually editing the opk file would be better cause you can use it on Stock FW too then.

But yeah,Ill follow your guide and see if I can do that myself to other emu's.
Thanks again.

edit: Well it worked,sort of..the repacking went fine,the icons changed but the names in the RG350 were the same still even though when packing I selected a new name.
I think the top or bottom tab must be selected to edit the actual opk name when packing so it shows up in the RG350 changed?
But choosing either ones has other issues as asks for executable etc.

You can also edit the default.gcw0.desktop file which will be in the extracted folder. Just open with note pad :) - I do not know how to change the Home golder name though sorry.

Here is one I done, I have changed text to bold where I made a change

[Desktop Entry]
Name=MegaDrive
Comment=MegaDrive Emulator for PG2
MimeType=application/zip;application/x-genesis-rom;application/x-megadrive-rom;application/x-sms-rom;application/x-cd-image;
Exec=gen_gcw0 %f
Terminal=false
Type=Application
StartupNotify=true
Icon=sg
Categories=Consoles;
X-OD-Manual=gcw0readme.txt
