Previous notebooks, based on a 13-inch, 14-inch screen, gradually evolved a 15.6-inch laptop, even 17 inches larger.

The world's smallest 7 inch laptop GDP Pocket, and the world's largest laptop acer Predator X 21, 21 inch screen, weight 8.6 kg, plus a large box need two people to the lift, a netizen laugh says in subway station with the 21 inch notebook out must be very smart!
Now this 7-inch Win10 system laptop GPD Pocket, with a weight of 500g, can be picked up by hand, and can be stuffed into a bag, which is a huge contrast.

Why is that?
The early days, the computer is relatively rare, the average person computer desktop or laptop can only choose the choose and buy, or a desktop host, either as a convenience to directly buy laptop, so choose the notebook is want a laptop function is very comprehensive, can do all things, the best is a laptop, since take out to meet the customer, can do the design again, can also play large 3 d games, foundation of entertainment such as online cannot little, of course, if covering the above requirements, the volume of a notebook computer, of course, is more close to the desktop.

But now as people's living standard is higher and higher, the computer is not what expensive things, already several basic hand computer now, small make up the house, now have three computers and a Mac mini, everyday use, a high match host, playing games is special, and then there's a general laptop computer configuration, eat dust for many years, and then there are 7 inches of the GDP of the Pocket, it's not deliberately to buy so many, the development of the computer after so many years, we were to buy the buy the computer so much, so people think different computer use should be more refined, actually a laptop is the purpose of the original design for portable, and GDP Pocket is portable to an extreme.
Go out in external use computers to do things are basically some simple tasks, such as E-mail and edit OFFICE documents, watching video, simple operations and so on operation, now have a weight less than 500 grams of 7 inch laptop can do these things, you are willing to take 5 kg laptop out?Previous notebooks, based on a 13-inch, 14-inch screen, gradually evolved a 15.6-inch laptop, even 17 inches larger.

And not only have laptops become generally bigger, they have lost some of the innovation that marked the early years. Now everything is so standardized. Remember the think pad butterfly keyboard? Now making a gpd pocket "butterfly" would allow the small light device with the ability to type normally. Rather than making a laptop small, now is the time to think how to make the small laptop function for its intended use/domain. Cheers

technology gets smaller and more efficient.
modern smartphones and tablets already have the performance of an average desktop PC from around 10 years ago.

infact, UMPCs and smaller laptops did exist for quite a long time but they were so slow that you couldn't really work well with them and the battery also wouldn't last long..

I remember the Sony Vaio P netbook from 2009 which was around the same size as the Pocket, but it was so slow that it couldn't handle Windows Vista it came preinstalled with well.

Same with any other Netbooks around that time.
The Intel GMA chipset was so useless that it couldn't even handle games from 2003 well,
Nvidia did boost the 3D performance and features with their ION chipset a bit, but the Atom CPUs were all still so slow that they were always bottlenecking.

Intel did a good job when they made the Baytrail CPUs (Z37XX), the GPU performance even outperformed the ION GPU (GF 9400M)

Huh, so now we know one of the few 21x buyers was GPD. Cool on them.

EDIT: NVM, I think I remember seeing that screenshot from a youtube review.

Ah yes, I own one of these sony P devices (P19VGN).  Its a really great looking device, just a pity that its very underpowered.   On top of that, they decided to use vista as the OS.  I think the device was voted as one of the worst devices ever.

However, Installing Windows XP or Windows 8 (Did not try windows 10) made it run a lot faster, however the thing was just about good for writing text documents or word processing and nothing else.  (Single core atom CPU and very slow EMMC)
