Rumble Feature Removed? Win 2 Aug 20 Batch
« on: August 30, 2018, 04:19:56 pm »
I have been searching, both this forum and the Chinese one where GPD posts along with Reddit, but I cannot find what is exactly changed with the Aug 20 revision except for removing a great feature. Does anyone know what the advantages of the latest Aug 20 batch are over July's? It seems as if the latest batch isn't worth the premium price anymore as people who purchased a Win 2 before Aug 20 have a more premium device than what I would.

I own the Win 1 and want to upgrade but it seems I missed the window. Anyone's thoughts?

Thank you!

I was lucky to find one second hand that has the rumble feature. I don't know why they removed it because it's a very nice feature. It makes playing emulated games feel more like on the real hardware.

Ditto, i looked around and i still can't find any official reasons why the rumble was removed. There's plenty of speculation such as being unable to find the parts, or being too expensive and they needed to cut something from the budget. Maybe they figured it had low demand.
But i'm also seeing stuff about the controller board being changed so a person couldn't add rumble even if they had the rumble motors.
My guess was that the rumble was interfering with something. But again, it's just speculation.

I really wish the GPD People will give us an official statement as to why it was removed and if they'll ever release a kit for people to add it back.
Name's Kiera. Feel free to check out some of my projects.
