Looking for 3d drawings of win1 case top and bottom
« on: April 23, 2019, 11:59:48 pm »
Seeing if I can find the original CAD drawing of the win1 top and bottom case or atleast some decent user replicated version. I have the idea in my head of trying to make an all aluminum body in the future and my lack CAD skills leave me a little dead in the water. Any help or direction that can be provided would be awesome. Thanks in advanced.

Only bottom case here

They won't give away the screen housing and faceplate (smokey1's post)

Cool thanks I appreciate it! I wish someone in the community had a 3d scanner and would scan the top casing because that's really the part I want the file for. It's just expensive to have it scanned professionally from what I have seen.

I did play with those 3D scanner thingy in an expo

I ask them to scan my whole face and body. Want that instead? ;D

3D scanners aren't precise, these kind of things need very high precision. And the 3D scanner file results are a mess. It would be faster to create high precision model using CAD from scratch altogether.

BTW judging by your cooling mod, you obviously have the skill and tools to do a manual mockup of the Win 1. Perhaps from styrofoam first then went gradually up to resin? I mean 3D printing don't necessarily means 1 trip as well. Trials and errors are needed and they come in much more expensive than manual.
