Intermittent Keyboard issue.
« on: July 16, 2017, 04:30:25 pm »
Hi all, I recently bought a GPD WIN (Metal top, Z8750), first few days i had no issues at all, while testing steam games on the system one of the older games crashed, after restarting i have been having an intermittent keyboard issue, basically the keyboard does nothing but the controller, power and volume buttons work (a lot like issues others have reported).

The key difference to other posts i have seen is that the key bored starts working after being powered down for a while, then after a few minutes of use cuts out again, sometimes it works to get into bios and sometimes not, i have no idea if this is a software or hardware issue, short of flashing the bios or a full re-install i have tried everything i can think of to resolve this problem, including re-installing the drivers, recovery modes and bios resets.

This may be the same issue others are having i don't know, but have not been able to find any information at all other than on here, i bought my unit from Grearbest, if i have to i will return the unit or send it for repair but as i am in the UK the cost of shipping is quite high so i would prefer not to if able, any help would be appreciated,

Hi all, i seem to have found a solution, foir anyone with this issue (worked for me at least), while trying anything and everything i attempted to update the controller drivers, during the process your required to boot up and hold the R3 button until the GPD logo fades, once done the controller will not work, i then restarted while holding DEL to test the keyboard by loading bios and all of a sudden everything worked, keyboard and all.

To test this again i waited to see if the keyboard becomes unresponsive again (after 4 days it did), repeated the previous steps and once again the keyboard works.

Hopefully anyone else who struggles with this issue could resolve it the same way, i ultimately chose not to update the drivers as the problem was at least temporally solved.

Interesting.   Seems as if the Flash to the controller somewhat resets the keyboard hardware?

My thoughts exactly, it does not work every time, im still having the keyboard issue but 80% of the time this fixes it, when it doesn't i just do it again.
