Grip is the word
« on: April 04, 2017, 12:40:03 am »
Right so I don't have exceptionally sweaty hands usually but holding a plastic block at 75 degrees for more than 5 minutes seems to make my hands sweat like anything!

The problem is that it sometimes is just downright impossible to manipulate the analog sticks-- I have removed the cheap silicone covers just like I did for my XD but that doesn't do enough- has anyone tried something for the joysticks that offers a better grip? I tried the usual silicone caps that are available on eBay for the PSV and they are worse than plastic tbh.

It's also not just the analogs-- the fingers that are in contact with the underside get friggin WET! Just me or does anyone else have trouble getting a grip  ??

Maybe it's cooler where I am or I just don't sweat as much, but no... most of the time I don't have issues.

Possibly both- I'm in a tropical country and it's like a bloody furnace this time
Of the year! Can i adk what temperature do your cores level off at under stress? Mine tend to stay at 74-78 for mosy modern games

Haha winter is just ending here. There were a few times the win felt a little slippery after using it for a few hours.

I would say my temps are the same, about 75C with the fan on low based on testing I've done.

First, do a heatsink mod and undervaluing
That should drop the temperatures

How much of a temperature dip are you seeing after the heatsink mod?

It's rather absurd that GPD would go to the length of redesigning aspects of the device to make room for a fan without first eliminating the possibility of an inefficient heatsink-- can't bring myself to go for the mod just yet tbh but I'd certainly consider if you say the device runs considerably cooler with it.

When I did it, the temp dropped by around 10C
Since I live in the UK, the temperature on the processor so far has never exceeded 70C under the heaviest of loads - and that is after I raised the passive temperature threshold from 50-ish and 60-ish to 80C
