[SOLVED] Grid Autosport crash on GPD win
« on: April 02, 2017, 07:06:20 pm »
PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED (hopefully!)- see update at the end of this post

I'm running this game on my Win off a 64 gb Sandisk flashdrive and other games on the drive all work fine.

I have this issue with Grid Autosport where after a few minutes of playing, the game randomly crashes to the desktop-- no warning, no error dialog and NOTHING in the events log! While it's running, there're no problems whatsoever- consistently at ~50 fps and CPU temperatures are well below 75 when I have the fan spinning fast.

Does anyone have this issue on the device? Apparently this is nothing new with Grid but different fixes seem to work on different chipsets/ GPUs etc and those are mostly tentative too. I tried some settings etc but the problem persists so if anyone here who  plays this game knows anything about this please let me know. cheers

UPDATE- I have now managed to play 6 races straight (as opposed to 1-2 races after which I'd be thrown back to desktop). To fix this, go to the task manager-> services-> open services-> Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service-> Stop (or preferably, disable) this service. The game should run fine now.

Disabling this doesn't seem to affect touch input.

I have the Steam version and works fine for me. I use intel beta drivers though I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Your solution makes sense, I disabled that service from day one, probably the reason why it works for me.
