I'm potentially getting an X5 Pro by early next month.  I'll post some emulation videos so you can see.

Interessting... Did anyone of you ever notice the permanent RAM-Usage of about ~6GB ?
They were ALL, in the range from 4.5 GB up to 6.5GB all the time, even that mobile racing game !
So much for the 8GB RAM is useless and won´t do any good guys... right?

Free RAM is wasted RAM. It's there to be used. If it's free, the OS tries to fill it up with stuff it predicts to be useful.

As well does the GPU, if it has to outsource the textures, polygons whatever to the in comparison lame emmc-flash, you get terrible severe framedrops, if still playable at all...

$500 is too expensive for me to bite on. I started with the gpd xd for $150 and backed the gpd win for $330. That over 100% in price jump was pretty high especially when PS4, XBO and switch are lower. If they can get the price near $350 than I might bite but it's getting too pricey for me.

I agree $500 is too much for a handheld game console or even game console in general.

It only makes sense if you can fit it in your life as a tablet / laptop replacement as well. If you look at laptop prices, it won't be a high price.

If you want to just game on it, you are right $500 is alot. If you can work on it whatever your job is and replace carrying a huge laptop every day AND game on it, it is cheap.

I'd defenitely pay more for more performance.
If they bring out a perfect device with a core-m I'd even pay 600 bucks.

Luckily it looks like we'll get a Core M3 7y30 in the GPD Win 2.

It's more than twice as powerful compared to the Z8750.

Also it's much more efficient, even at 4.5W it's around 50% faster than a Z8700 at 6W. That also means it will get less hot.

nice! Hopefully they can supply a big enough battery for all that horsepower     :)

As I said, that's not even neccessary since the chip is twice as powerful at the same power consumption.#

However, Wade said that the battery will be a bit bigger.

This plus the custom TDP could get us a ridiculous battery life for 2D/older games. Like, 7-8h Stardew Valley.

Why do you think we are getting an M3? Don't get me wrong, I want it too, but so far all Wade''s replies on the matter of processors were vague and we're all about how it is too early to say.

Basically it's from this article : https://tobalog.com/2017/05/gpd-win-2/

One of the people at the GPD booth at Japan IT week was saying it.

Remember though, things can change.  We will have to see I suppose.

That said, I think they are trying to compete with the Smach Z which they see as a competitor.  So I wouldn't be surprised if they choose a SOC thats competitive with the SOC used in the Smach Z.

What SoC is used in Smach Z though? And how does it compare in its performance to z8750 and to m3-7y30?

AMD Merlin Falcon RX-421BD (12-15w)

How it compares to the M3-7Y30 - no idea.  But it would probably decimate the Z8750

Here is one comparison: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/422/AMD_R-Series_RX-421BD_vs_Intel_Core_m3_m3-7Y30.html

In short, AMD technically seems more powerful, but uses tremendously more power and unless the Smach Z gets a 20k mAh battery, it will have very depressing battery life. Also it must overheat like hell.
