Yes you can use Skype, there's an embedded microphone but you'd need a USB webcam for video.

Costs more than the XD yes but pricy? Not really. It's a UMPC (below 10", includes a desktop OS and a keyboard) which disappeared as a device category, being replaced by Windows tablets. It's also the most powerful UMPC ever made and considering it has the entire windows games catalogue and can emulate nearly every other platform, it's a pretty good gaming device too. If you're comparing it to devices outside the category for instance windows tablets which lack a keyboard so can't be used for productivity, Android gaming devices which don't have the vast catalogue, or small laptops which lack the portability (the win fits in an inner jacket pocket like a smartphone) you're missing its key features.

As for sales, there's some numbers over in the indiegogo thread, it's in the region of 5000 units sold which is good given it's a niche device that hasn't begun shipping yet. I've put down the money for one.

That's one thing you gain with a PC, you have much greater control over every aspect. You can use almost any software ever written. Say Microsoft gives up on Skype? There are tens of alternatives that you could use.

Nice. Ill be picking on up here soon. Do they have a carrying case for it yet? How about a screen protector for it ??

It wont have a sim card slot will it?? So I can use a data sim.
Its less pricy than the Pandora pyra. Its basically the same thing besides price and sim card. :)

Except the Pyra can't run Windows.

Furthermore almost all the tablets have atom x3 or x5 for the newest one, only the  hybrid laptop have the core m and it's a lot bigger and more expensive.

I see :)

I can get a data sim card through my current phone company. For 10$ a month is unlimited data :)

So that being said is there a USB SIM card reader that'll give me internet with the GPD WIN?? Like a usb reader that'll give me data type of thing???

That'll convince me to buy one of these :)

Looks promising !!

Is the gsp handheld gaming system any better since it has 8gb and has built in cameras for skyping? It says it can even  make phone calls !!

Yes those are things. Google "4G dongle" to get USB 3 or 4G modems on every major network, or some unlocked.

Huh you're right the 4G LTE ones are more expensive, HSDPA/3G ones less so.

Last time I used one was a long time ago, picked up an unlocked Huawei 3G HSDPA capable one for about ?20, worked on O2, T-Mobile and Three in the UK.

They're data only though iirc, they can't act like phones because phones actually do really weird stuff to make a call. Either they drop to 2G and pretend it's the bad old days where phones weighing 20kg were 'portable' or if they're modern enough they'll use VoLTE which is basically VoIP/skype.

Anyway my advice is to google all this and some details of your phone network, what bands to t-mobile use, which dongles cover that and are unlocked or easy to unlock, what speeds do I need etc.
