GPD WIN MAX 2
« on: April 07, 2019, 04:28:48 pm »
Lets post all relevant news for this new handheld.

What we know so far is its going to use a higher res screen and AMD APU, all other details are either rumors or speculation at this point.

Personally I would like to see this  hardware in a 10 or 11 inch netbook type form factor ( like a GPD Pocket but bigger ).
You would have much more room for cooling and enough space for traditional keyboard layout and touchpad.
The rumored configurable TDP ( up to 35w ) has me thinking how well this form factor could handle cooling the hardware without it sounding like a jet taking off.

Phawx hope you dont mind  me posting your video  here.

1080p is useless in terms of performance

It won't be 1080p, and won't be 7 inch.

for me, a HD screen (720) is perfect (1080 is useless), and 7 or 8 inches is ok, if there are minimal bezel.

So what size screen do you guys think it will have?
Love my WIN 2 but the one thing I wish it had was a bigger screen, my eyes get strained after a while and reading text can sometimes be way too small.

If there would be SmachZ out it has 1080p screen, we will see, if AMD SoC powerfull for it or not. But big problem with 1080p is that half resolution 960x540 is not supported of too much games.. and only 3:4 compatible format is 1280x960 and its big space waste.
If iPad etc could have 4:3 screen, why we can get at least 16:10 with 1920x1200, on it 1600x1200 runs really well, 1080p too.

Sure hope there are clickable sticks, the current set up is just a pain to use.
Just wish GPD would release some official info so we can give some feedback to them.

Here's a hope it won't be more than 2 inches longer than Win 2. Otherwise it will become just notebook with inbuilt gaming controls but not a gaming UMPC/handheld console.

But speaking realistically, judging from sketches leaked it will be much bigger, sadly. In this case, I will save my money for Win 3.

So any guesses on performance? Theres not too much info on this SOC ? Double performance of the WIN 2?
I know it depends on the TDP but with 2 fans it should be relatively high, I just hope they are not crazy loud like the WIN 2.

Doesn't fan noise depend on game performance?

Not necessarily, it depends on temps.
Fan noise is the same for almost every game.

For the perf Phawx say the V1605b is similar to the Ryzen 5 2500U

here links to some videos of the R5 2500U (i though he use it at 15W)
_ https://youtu.be/l9MYwQbR5bc?t=3
_ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlUXfQ8PnC4

In this video he change the Tdp 15W, 12W and 25W
00:01 default TDP 15W
00:43 game graphics settings
02:57 cTDP down 12W
05:22 cTDP up 25W

What???
If your asking what device he is testing games on it?s the HP Envy 360. Would be great to know if they are running dual channel RAM for those games because it makes a huge difference.
