GPD Win boot problem
« on: February 18, 2018, 11:30:38 pm »
Hello all,

A few month ago i purchased a gpd-win device with the aluminium shell from aliexpress, this device was running fine for like 2 month and i really enjoyed the mobile gaming experience with my old win favorites. Howerver, i was recently on a short journey and did not use that thing for like 2 weeks, it was sitting on a shelf.

Now its dead, wont boot anymore. I recharged the device and let the battery completely drain, recharged it again nothing.

When i push and hold the powerbutton for a short time, the power led turns blue and stays on. If i hold the powerbutton for like 10 seconds, the led goes off. Thats it, no fan running, screen stays black. I connected the device via mini hdmi to my tv, no screen. If i connect the charger the led turns purple.

Well, i contacted GDP and they answered the seller is responsible, thats it. The seller from Aliexpress ignores my mails.

Following some tutorials on the internet i opened the device and disconnected the battery for like 2 hours and connected it again, same game, only the blue led goes on.

Is there anything i can do to bring the device back to live? Would love to get that thing back into operation as long as it was running it was a great toy.

regards,
digijo

How long did you charge the battery? If the battery level is too low it's going to take a very long time to charge it again.

Did you try to boot the GPD Win with the charger connected?

You can also try to boot from an USB stick and do a fresh Windows 10 install. Maybe if it can't boot up normally it still does boot from an USB stick.

Hey,
thx for the replys.

I tried to boot it with original charger connected as suggested. The led turns purple when i connect the charger but the device doesnt boot. After like 1 hour the led turns blue, but still no boot up. Tried to press the power button short time, long time etc. no effect, screen stays black nothing happens.

Created a boot usb-stick (tested it with my notebook) and tried to boot the GPD win with it, no success. As with the trys above, led turns blue, nothing happens. Guess the bios is bricked?

When the led is blue the GPD Win is powered on. Maybe it's stuck in hibernation mode. Did you try to press the power button for more than 10 seconds with and without the charger connected?

Edit: You can also try with push and hold the Volume up button and then press the Power button to go to the BIOS. Or try with push and hold the R3 button and then press the Power button. I don't know what it does exactly but it's necessary to update the joystick drivers.

Hey Alien,

I tried all that now, unfortunately it did not work. Always the same only the blue led goes on or off, thats it.

The only thing you can still try is drain the battery to the point it shuts down for protection. Power the GPD Win on and leave it like that till the blue led goes off.

This is how I could get my ASUS TF300T to boot again after everything else failed to power it on and boot again.
