GPD Win 2 x Supermodel Sega Rally 2
« on: June 24, 2018, 08:08:00 am »
Hi Fellow Win2'ers

Was just wondering if any of you owners are running Supermodel (Sega Model 3 emu) on your Win2?

If so, does Sega Rally 2 appear slow to you guys (or with a lot of slowdowns in most places)?
All other games seems to run fine (albeit some have distorted sound) but Sega Rally 2 is one of my favs.

Would be fab if someone could let me know how their Supermodel Sega Rally 2 is working on their Win2. Thanks!

If you aren't comfortable with Supermodel not having a UI (like myself), it is easy to set up Supermodel with Launchbox (to get a great UI).

I did a youtube clip on Sega Model 3 emulator. I think it was running ok .(but with some graphic glitches..)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzhjzCguskQ&t=80s

between time 4:44 and 6:55

I was running my GPD WIN 2 stock and at 720p...
So if you could up the wattage and or decrease the screen resolution it should run better....

Can i ask what your settings are? When i try Virtua striker, it gets the the kick off screen then freezes.
When i try star wars it lets me select the level, then the screen goes boack and I can only hear the sound.

TIA

I don't have any of those issues. Maybe you got bad roms?
The latest Supermodel is 735 (check my links above) and get the latest. If the problem persists, try and find a better rom pack.

Does this essentially mean the WIN2 is simply not powerful enough to run the Supermodel emulator? On desktop PCs does SR2 run normally? Scud-Race seems to run fine and fast, which I think is more graphically intensive than SR2. (I don't have a desktop PC - I'm a Mac user. WIN2 is actually my first PC).

Yes it is. Win2 handle supermodel without speed issues.

Graphical glitches are common in all hardware, mainly in widescreen.

Maybe the slowdown is also down to the fact that I am running it at 1.5x the resolution of the arcade board? From the original resolution of 496x384 to 744x576...

I think its on Max.
Whenever you get some time free, could you be so kind as to set the resolution to 744x576 and record a video with FPS, CPU, etc., stat counter on the screen? It is especially apparent on the snowing stage on corners...
