Hi all!
I have a 1st batch GPD Win 1 I've been using for many years without a problem. I don't use it as often nowdays, but about a couple of hours a month. Last month the device worked. I played a bit, installed updates, charged the battery to the usual put-it-in-it's-box-65% and put it away. Today I take it out, turn it on, and it's the EFI boot console. Huh. Checked, nothing in the USB or microSD, so no weird boot devices, I reboot it. EFI console again. I go to the BIOS and there is no Windows entry. Weird. I plug in a windows installer USB, and nope, the eMMC is just not there. As a last ditch effort I boot again into the EFI console and try to list volumes and sure enough, there are none. The device don't see it's eMMC. Now I can't say it didn't serve me well over the years but I'd be sad to let it go just like this especially if it's somehow salvageable. If this is something of a common error and someone knows what to do, desolder, reflow or put a hex on, I'm willing to try it (as it probably won't get worse). I'm even open to ideas to solder to some test points and add a new eMMC module or PCIe-to-m.2 or something. I just fell it would be a colossal waste to let it die just like that...
