First batch of GPD Pocket
« on: July 27, 2017, 02:10:51 am »
Hi all,

I bought a GPD Pocket in pre sale from GearBest (http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_613003.html). The device arrived today, and it is probably from the first batch manufactured after the backers batch. The device seems nice and solid, and works smoothly, except the keyboard. I don't know if it is poor build quality or if I got a defective unit. I'm getting "t" keypresses by just typing any letter close to "t" (like r, y, f, g), and every time I press the "t" key, it registers twice, no matter if I press it fast, slow, strong or lightly. Have you guys noticed problems like that on your unit?

Thanks!

I just wanted to update everyone as I managed to fix the issue. I opened my GPD Pocket as instructed by this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTymxvORuZA. He shows how to open the GPD Pocket from bottom up. However, I realized that I had to remove pretty much everything before getting to the keyboard to track the issue. So I closed by GPD again and decided another easier approach. I tried to just remove the keycap of the "t" key and look if there was anything wrong with the circuitry under it. To my surprise, it seems that my problem was simpler than I thought. The circuitry was fine, but the key retainers were in a bad position, pressing the button under it almost all the time. I fixed the position and now it is working fine. =)
