Android for GPD Win & Pocket
« on: December 24, 2017, 04:19:49 pm »
Not sure if you guys are following the Discord server or not, but a pretty nice (mostly working) Android build has surfaced for GPD Win and Pocket over at https://www.black-seraph.com.

Given that everyone's waiting for the GPD Win 2 right now, I thought I'd post this here as a little something for those that haven't seen it yet and need a little christmas cheer.

Installed it. Was super simple. Many bugs and issues. I am looking forward to seeing his revisions because it has major potential. -no wifi was the major killer for me.

Also note, this was the only android image I could get working on my Win.

Mine wouldn't turn on. Touch screen doesn't work either, have you tested if emulators run on it? Specifically low-end ones like gba, snes? I just said screw it once the wifi wouldn't work, can't download anything.

Yup, everything working here.
WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.

Emulators tried are: pretty much all mainstream RetroArch cores, PPSSPP, Drastic, FPSE, etc.

Did you install to USB? I installed to eMMC using an 8gb partition. I will try it again in a few hours, maybe I screwed something up. I stopped following the directions after installation and just booted right to Android, perhaps that's not the proper way to get everything working.

Your touchscreen is working too?! How did you do that? My wifi will not turn on, neither will bluetooth. Installed to eMMC followed instructions verbatim.

After booting into Android a few times, my GPD won't boot into windows anymore. I get a recovery problem. Have tried nearly everything to fix boot. This might have caused me to have to reinstall windows. Next time I will NOT use grub2win.

I have it installed on my eMMC as well (I did try on a USB stick before however, just to verify) and haven't had any issues just yet.

I don't quite understand what you mean by GPU requirements for APK installation, they just install.
If you need to sideload APKs though (instead of getting them from the Play Store) you need to toggle the Unknown sources setting in Security.

And what recovery problem are you talking about? I haven't run into anything of the sort (yet).

Mind putting together a tutorial for this if we want to use easyBCD to do boot loading (Like how some folks do remix OS side installs)

I just prefer this method as I used it a while back to allow me to boot to a sdcard on a laptop that didn't give the option otherwise.

Got it running though one odd issue I noticed is that playstore is asking me to repurchase my apps when on the win.

I did get the kyosho iReceiver app working with Tincore (which kept nagging like crazy for super user permissions even though I gave it permission just need to figure out how to adjust the sensitivity of the sticks on the win.

All I did was change the boot order and the entire Win just screwed up - can't boot into windows anymore. I'll be reinstalling Windows via Phawx's tutorial on youtube.

So I have been attempting to install Android on the eMMC but for whatever reason it always fails. I would much rather have it on my device as I would like to have the USB port free.

Has anyone tried any different methods as opposed to using the instructions on black seraph?
