I didn't mean to imply you did damage it =)/ The problem is in the poor design of the hinge. Sometimes the case/hinge wears the ribbon down or even tears it. I am not saying that is the problem, but it sounds like it to me.
I would try going through Geekbuying first. Send them an email and explain the long shipping and that you have a problem. Keep me updated to how your progress goes, and if geekbuying does not do something about it, I MAY be able to help. But I can't give you a guarantee. If I were able to help you would have to send it to me, then pay shipping from here (chicago) to china, then once I get the repaired XD+, pay for shipping back to you ( from chicago ).
So yeh your best bet would be going through geekbuying, but as I said, please keep me updated.
